Mission: To promote public awareness of game and fish conservation, educate the public regarding the protection and conservation of natural resources, and encourage the protection of wildlife and fish habitat though various programs and by providing supplemental financial support for various projects associated with the mississippi department of wildlife, fisheries, and parks. Programs: Wildlife and fisheries-consists of multiple programs to further the organization's mission some of which are as follows: a black bear project which funds equipment using radio telemetry and fly over air time to track the movement and population of black bear. Funding for special operations to purchase surveillance equipment to detect and apprehend persons involved in illegal wildlife activity. Funds fishing rodeos for young, handicapped, and elderly and also sponsors a range partners program to introduce newcomers to shooting and gun safety by professional instructors. State wildlife management areas receive funds for waterfowl property enhancements consisting of culverts, levees, and water diversion. Provides monitoring for the red creek conservation easement. Publishes the outdoors in mississippi magazine. Assistance to landowners with burn programs for longleaf pine restoration
mississippi archery in the schools-this program brings archery to over 350 public and private schools and accepts school age children aged 12 and above. It is now listed as a sport by the mississippi high school activities program in which 35,000 students participate.
mississippi outdoors television-this program furthers the mission of the foundation by broadcasting on a national basis the natural resources and outdoor recreational opportunities in the state of mississippi. The program airs on an outdoor entertainment channel three times each week potentially reaching over 40 million households annually.
