Michael Menichini, the son of Ralph and Helene Menichini and brother of Lauren Menichini, was a 1993 Saint James High School and a 1997 Penn State graduate. In 1999 Michael was fatally injured in an automobile accident while visiting a friend in Florida. Michael was the captain of the 1992-1993 St. James basketball team and was the 1993 President of the Student Council (last graduating class). Michael fought diligently to stop the closing of the school in 1993. Michael attended the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia for his freshmen and sophomore years and was a member of the basketball team. Michael transferred to Penn State (Delco Campus) for his junior and senior years where he played basketball and graduated with a degree in Communications. After graduation, Michael was employed as a Pharmaceutical representative and continued his involvement in sports, as he was an assistant coach for the Penn State basketball team.
The Michael Menichini Scholarship Fund, formed by family and friends, was established to keep Michael's memory alive as well as to help alleviate some of the tuition associated with secondary and post secondary educations for student athletes. Monsignor Bonner High School is one of the seven schools that receive scholarship dollars.
