Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Protestant, Religion

Mission: Mentorlink international's primary purpose is to develop kingdom leaders to lead like jesus. Our vision is for every believing community, effective leaders; for every leader, an effective christ-like mentor. The present problem which mentorlink is addressing is the global shortfall of christ-like leaders. Church planting movements are multiplying churches exponentially. These new flocks urgently need leaders to shepherd them. Traditional leadership development models are based on knowledge and skills training. These models assume you can mass produce leaders through content and skills transfer. The solution to this problem is exponential growth through jesus' mentoring model. Jesus' model focused on character transformation through mentoring relationships. He demonstrated it daily with his disciples and changed them from the inside out. The result: exponential growth in kingdom leaders for an expanding kingdom movement.

Programs: Continued catalyzing national movements to develop christ-centered leaders through mentoring in latin america, asia, europe and africa. At the end of 2014, mentorlink was engaged with leaders from 60 nations. Continued developing new ministry delivery partnerships in latin america, asia, europe and africa for the production and delivery of the video based discipleship program titled "40 days with jesus". To date, over 260 partner ministries, agencies and groups have chosen to be partners in the global mentorlink vision.

mentorlink held a gathering of its affilitates from around the world in may 2014. This conference was the gathering of the 51 international leaders for the mentorlink movement. Many individuals came from repressed and impoverished nations. The funds received for room and board from the paying participants, subsidized those who came under scholarship for travel and room and board. During the conference, training was conducted on the ministry expansion of mentorlink. Organizational and strategic decisions were also made regarding the direction and leadership for the mentorlink movement.

Mentorlink reaches out to Christian leaders in modeling the way Jesus leads. It accomplishes that objective in the most cost effective way by sharing with other partners and maintaining a minimum
staff of 2- 3 and volunteers and a few contract staff members. A current example of this is the series
" Forty days with Jesus" on their website as well as miniseries of "Seven days with Jesus".

I have been involved with MLI from the beginning as legal counsel, and am now serving my second term as a Board member. The impact of MLI in the past 13 years is amazing - it is now in 50 countries and has impacted at least 1.8 million pastors and leaders worldwide. When it started, MLI had to convince donors that MLI we would actually work since there were no anecdotal stories to tell. MLI worked for years trying to come up with an elevator speech and had to reinvent itself financially during the last couple of economic downturns so that it reiesy on unpaid -in-country champions for MLI to equip and train leaders through mentoring.

Now, we are on the cutting edge of using digital technology to provide discipleship tools using the Jesus Film, which, among other things, permits access to people who are illiterate and are not otherwise reahable through written communications. MLI has developed 40 Days with Jesus in 9 languages through the end of 2012, and has another 13 to be developed in 2013. Fortunately, the Jesus Film is already available in 1,150 langauges, so we are playing catchup.

MLI's next challenge is to try and engage the over 45 aged population to be mentors to the 20-35 age group in the US.
