Meals on Wheels of Staunton, Inc. provides a well-run local alternative to the federally funded program. It has a local Board providing oversight and direction, an excellent staff leader, a cadre of committed local volunteers.
Key Mission and Activities: Our volunteers deliver meals to persons who reside in Staunton, VA and its environs regardless of sex, age, infirmity, race, religion, creed or economic status. In addition volunteers will check on our clients and possibly provide the only contact for the day. The Board of Directors/or the Coordinator shall determine the eligibility of persons served by this program. The meals shall be furnished at cost unless the Board of Directors/Coordinator determines that the meal be furnished at less than cost or without charge.
These meals, ranging in need for our clients, will be delivered from one to five days a week, 52 weeks a year, including holidays.
The number of clients served ranges from approximately 15-20 per day or approximately 260 meals a week or 5400 meals a year.
