Programs: Home-delivered meals:the home-delivered meals program (hdm) serves frail and homebound seniors not only with noon meals but also provides social contact, gate keeping services, nutritional information and community links to other resources. Contact with a home-delivered meals driver also reduces the isolation experienced by many seniors who live alone. As the number of frail, homebound seniors increases, combined with their growing preferences to remain in their own homes for as long as possible, the need for home delivered meals becomes greater each year. Congregate meals (or all seasons cafes):the congregate meals program serves mobile seniors with noon meals. This program reduces isolation and loneliness by encouraging seniors to get out of their home to visit friends and make new friends, encourages seniors to participate in other activities offered at the cafe, and promotes a sense of value and self-worth to the senior volunteers that provide service through the program. During fiscal year 2016-17, mow served 5,586 unduplicated seniors and delivered 526,555 meals to congregate and home-delivered meal participants. Mow also had 500+ mostly part-time volunteers who contributed over 57,843 hours.
