Mission: To promote economic and workforce development strategies that assure full inclusion of individuals with disabilities and other barriers to employment.
Programs: Maryland works, inc. Is a statewide membership association that promotes, creates, and manages employment and economic strengthening opportunities for individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment. Our members include non-profit community service organizations, and individual workforce development professionals who specialize in creating workforce and economic opportunities for motivated and qualified marylanders with disabilities or other barriers to employment. Our vision is that maryland will attain economic and workforce conditions that create equal access and participation for all maryland works, inc. , programs are organized into three main divisions: 1. The "provider network" is comprised of nonprofit community based organizations that offer quality training, employment and other services for people with disabilities. 2. The "workforce network" is made up of a wide range of individual workforce development, job development, and other career counseling and workforce development professionals. Maryland works inc. , provides services for both of the above membership groups that include provision of training programs and technical assistance; public policy monitoring, education and advocacy; networking and partnership development. 3. The "employment works program" ("ewp") is a procurement preference that maryland works coordinates for the state of maryland; that creates quality employment and business ownership opportunities for individuals with disabilities, while providing the state of maryland with high quality services and commodities. Under the ewp, maryland works coordinates the distribution of state products and service contracts among eligible non-profits and businesses owned by people with disabilities. In the case of the non-profits, work under the contracts is utilized to provide training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
maryland works partner's with the disabilities council of md distributing the tips grants (transforming & improving practices through customized technical assistance) to non-profit community service providers to enhance their capacity to develop integrated employment opportunities for people with disabilities.
