Mission: Be The Match Foundation(R) makes life-saving bone marrow transplants a reality for patients by raising funds to help patients with uninsured costs, support transplant research and grow the Be The Match marrow donor registry.
Programs:
While a marrow transplant can be a life-saving treatment, it takes a financial toll on a family. Often there is the temporary loss of at least one income, and even with insurance, not all costs are covered. Be The Match Foundation provides financial assistance to qualifying families who need help with uninsured treatment costs. We have provided access to $5.4 million in patient grants. Most of these dollars are for patients whose insurance will not cover the cost to search for a donor. Patients’ fastest-growing need is for post-transplant recovery grants to help with uninsured recovery costs such as prescription co-pays, transportation to and from the trasnplant center, and temporary lodging. Thanks to our generous supporters, 1,825 families received grants in 2009, 300 more than the previous year. But the need continues to grow.
