Mission: Many Mansions is a nonprofit affordable housing and service provider. Its mission is to "promote and provide safe, well-managed housing with on site, life-enriching services for limited income residents of the Conejo Valley, Ventura County, and their surrounding communities." Many Mansions provides 500 units of affordable housing to low ¬income families in Ventura County and is the leading provider of supportive housing for formerly homeless and disabled individuals in our community. Besides housing, Many Mansions provides on¬site supportive services for families including Case Management, Job Development and Children's Programs including homework tutoring and summer camp. By providing decent housing and life-enriching services to those most in need, we aim to break the cycle of poverty and remove the barriers that prevent members of our community from having a basic need met—a roof over their head.
Target demographics: Many Mansions is dedicated to providing affordable housing for low-income families of all sizes. The need for affordable housing is great for households who are very low and extremely low income, but extremely great for those of a special population -- seniors, veterans, transition aged youth, homeless, or disabled households. For this reason Many Mansions provides supportive housing for the most vulnerable members of our community – those who are extremely low income and formerly homeless, often with a mental or physical disability. We have over 1,200 residents at Many Mansions, including more than 350 children. Of the 500 families living at Many Mansions, 55% are led by a female head of household, 20% are seniors over 62, 26% have a disability, and 66% are very-low or extremely-low income.
Geographic areas served: Endeavor to promote and provide safe, well-managed housing with on-site, life-enriching services for limited income residents of the Conejo Valley, Ventura County, and their surrounding communities.
Programs: Many Mansions emphasizes service programs, operating on the belief that residents must learn valuable life skills and self-sufficiency in order to break the cycle of poverty. Our programs are all on-site, which is very unique and effective. Having on-site case managers and job developers provides residents with exceptional service programs that are also highly accessible and interactive. This is especially important for a population that may not have its own transportation in communities with little public transportation. Our program targets the whole family learning how to break their cycle of poverty through workshops, case management, job development, and counseling, and doing so as an intact family unit. The Children’s services program provides free after school education and enrichment programs to help children learn the tools needed for a successful and prosperous life. Building trusting and caring relationships with dedicated staff as well as with the other children at their property encourages healthy relationships that help give children the strength and stability needed to deal with life’s challenges and uncertainties. Our unique programs at Many Mansions assist the entire family with overcoming their barriers and rising out of poverty.
