EEZYCUT has worked with LAUE through Heather and Karim Hamza for the past 5 years. They have proven their worth for us to donate to them and the LAUE for the Ghost Fishing project. We manufacture, here in California, an emergency cutting tool that is sold around the globe and started in the diving industry. They were the first organization we chose to donate to and still do today because of the work they do. They are AAA rated for us.
THE EEZYCUT TEAM
Review from Guidestar
What a great organization! Heather, Karim and many of the other members of LAUE are amazing advocates for the ocean and all the life that call it home. Week after week they do such a wonderful job helping new and old divers alike share in their passion of improving our underwater world. Working together, they make it easy for people to make a tangible difference in our environment and save a lot of animals along the way. Where else can you laugh, play, work and make a giant impact in improving our oceans. You will remember your time with LAUE for many years!

LAUE started with a group of south Californian divers who love the Ocean. It has grown into a life changing experience. It takes great energy, commitment and time to make such an organization successful overtime.
And this is what the LAUE team and leaders are showing: a strong commitment to the Ocean.
But it gives back: one of the first key project was to clean up a fishing boat wreck, covered with nets, which were constantly trapping marine life, killing mammals on regular basis. After 2 years, the wreck is almost free of nets and not only it stops killing, it also attracts more marine life and diversity.
One side but key task for the organization is to handle the fishing nets, which are brought back to the surface and have to be recycled. The good news: several solutions exist. Again, it takes time to organize, manage, and follow-up. But when solicited, human creativity does perform and helps, and it is great to see these fishing nets getting out of the water to become skate-board, socks, carpet, or even wallet and ocean clothes.
Even better, all these actions are showing the path for more divers to carry on actions at various other sites, and joining effort with similar organization across the world, demonstrate to the entire dive industry that it can contribute to clean the Ocean while enjoying a hobby or a business activity. It is a very good news to see some key players of the dive industry to start getting involved now on these cleaning or recycling activities.
It is exiting to see the LAUE organization growing, but it is challenging. Any dive on a deep wreck requires complex and expensive logistic. For an advance deep dive, the volunteer divers will need to spend more than 150$ just for gas, and it is just one piece of a project.
I have participated to this effort from time to time. I am very proud of this amazing experience, and of being part of this organization. It shows that few people and dedication can make a tangible difference for improving our underwater environment - both by real actions in the field, but also through convincing other people it makes sense to do so.
It just needs a starting point, some commitment and support, and it is worth it.

Review from Guidestar
Perhaps one of the caring and passionate groups of people you may ever meet. Their knowledge of and concern for our marine life and ocean environment is unsurpassed. They don't just preach concern, they actually do something about it. These GUE divers have been cleaning up abandoned commercial fishing gear for years.
