Keeping my story vague because they've made indirect threats to re-claim my dog after I rightfully called them out on their bullshit.

Adopted a dog from the, they got the breed entirely wrong. My significant other and I were advised by our vet they our dog should be a certain age before neutering. We had to reschedule the neutering appointment and I notified them with all pertinent information including the rescheduled appointment date/time. They absolutely ghosted me and then 1-1/2 months later said I waited too long to neuter and they would not refund my deposit. When I called them out and made threats to report them to the BBB, they made vague threats of reclaiming the dog from me.

DO NOT ADOPT FROM LAST PAW RESCUE.

I am shocked at the reviews! I personally have adopted two dogs from this rescue and because my dogs were so nice, each of my children have adopted great dogs. I also have referred may friends, and they have adopted nice dogs. One friend has one from Mexico, and she is the best!
I also know that each dog has a non-spill water bowl in its crate during transport from where it comes from. In addition to that, stops are made to clean kennels and walk the dogs along the way. So, I'm not sure where someone got the idea this was not the case.
The only explanation I have for these poor reviews is uneducated adaptors. So many people think dogs come trained and that "Fluffy" will love them forever and ever. I truly believe this rescue is trying to do its best by trying to save as many dogs as possible from high kill shelters, deplorable situations, and over crowded shelters. Would highly recommend them, and have. Most, not all, breeders are looking at profits and not what's best for the dog.
All this being said, I also own a very expensive French Bulldog from a "breeder" that the owner surrendered as they were going to euthanize him. He can be very naughty and without the proper training would not be a good fit in just any home. This dog had no mistreatment in his past, just improper handling. Again, dogs don't come trained. It takes daily work, so if you are not willing to seek help and put in the work, don't get/adopt a dog.

I rescued Duke from one of your rescue homes 11/21. Duke is the best!!!!!! He is so easy to train. He now knows - Three times saying stop at road crossing. He now stops on his own.
Walk by me and he walks to my side and say no jump and he doesn't. He was well trained when I got him. His vet just loves him.
It's ok if these are shared.

Please beware to anyone considering adoption of a dog through this organization ! Last Paw rescue is known to travel 100’s of miles out of state to remove dogs from dog hoarding situations. This being said means these dogs have suffered massive amounts of neglect & abuse & are feral or semi feral. The organization preys on folks that have a big heart & want to rescue these poor pups. What the organization doesn’t reveal is that these dogs will require a lot of training to overcome fearfulness, shyness & little socialization. These dogs will also require much medical treatment from your veterinarian.
After losing our beloved dog of 16 years I searched the internet to find a suitable dog that truly needed a second chance & a good home. We found a dog named Ginny. We had to wait for her to wean her puppies before we were able to travel from Michigan to Wisconsin to pick her up. We traveled over 5 hours & stayed in a hotel the night before the adoption was to occur. We were allowed to briefly meet the dog at the fosters home. She was shy & fearful. The following morning we went to the fosters home to finalize the adoption. We were met at our car by the foster in her driveway in cold windy conditions to fill out paperwork. The paperwork was filled out promptly with the foster not giving us copies of her paperwork or medical records. So we handed over $400.00 . $300.00 for the adoption fee & $100.00 deposit that would be returned to us after her spaying was completed. The foster assured us her health was good except a few minor dental issues. This was an outright lie ! After taking her to our local vet we were informed that her dental issues were major & the total cost of extractions & dental work would amount to a minimum of $500.00. We will be taking out a personal loan to pay for the dogs dental work. After getting her spayed I emailed the spay paperwork to the foster & Last Paw Rescue. It has been almost 3 weeks & Last Paw rescue refuses to return my calls or acknowledge that they will give our $100.00 deposit back after her spaying procedure.
The dog has many bowel issues & is miserable with all her cracked & broken teeth. She was feral ( unbeknownst to us ) & refused to stay in the house, allow us to pet her or touch her & barked nonstop in our dog pen night & day for 2 1/2 months.
The vet is unsure of her age due to massive dental disease & damage.
So in short this dog is feral, major dental damage & disease & bowel disease.
If she were a used car she would be considered a lemon.
This organization overcharges for defective & damaged dogs & then refuses to refund the $100.00 spay fee after proper paperwork is submitted. They refuse to return phone calls or emails.
So all in all a heartfelt gesture on our part to rescue a hoarder dog has become a nightmare & a huge financial burden to us. This has been the most disappointing dog adoption I have ever been involved in. The organization urged us to return her. There is no way we will return her so they can flip this dog like a rundown house. I will never adopt another dog from a dog rescue organization again ! This organization is a scam & a money making scheme ! They misrepresent the dogs health , age , socialization & then refuse to return the $100.00 spay deposit. It will cost us hundreds of dollars at the vet & years of working with her to socialize her to even resemble a normal dog. I will be filing an official complaint with the Better Business Bureau. Don’t fall for this scam ! This organization should be shut down !

This rescue is pathetic!!

Assisted with an out of state hoarding situation, knowing they were holding dogs that were not surrendered and needed to be held for evidence. They needed the dogs vetted, rabies given and health certificates obtained in order for them to travel back to Wisconsin. The vet clinic did that for them without an appointment (28 adults and 6 puppies) in order to allow them to get on the long drive home. They thanked the vet clinic by NOT PAYING THEIR INVOICE!!!

Better yet, this rescue continually asks the non profit that Is overseeing the evidence chain where the dogs will go if they are not surrendered by the defendant. In essence, they moved dogs hundreds miles away and do not want to pay for vetting nor care for the dogs they agreed to hold when they offered their assistance. One would worry about the safety of the dogs.

Total scammers, perusing the internet and offering to take groups of dogs they can flip.

Terrible rescue..BEWARE!

THESE PEOPLE ARE POS SCAMMERS. My fiancé and I recently adopted a dog from here based on a photo. They said she was an 8 month old German Shepherd/Husky mix which is a lie. She’s 4 months old, 19 lbs and has another breed mixed with german and husky as well, which we don’t mind but none of her papers say anything but that’s she’s a german. And she was neutered before three months old which is not good for germans... All the shots she’s had are expired as well so we’ll have to replace all of them and get her on medicine for her stomach problems.. But these people got her over the border illegally.. you can’t transport an unchipped dog under 6 months across the border and she was so they forged her papers... the workers didn’t give her or the other dogs any food or water on the TWO DAY trip from Mexico where they were already dehydrated and starving, she couldn’t even muster the energy to jump onto the couch that night because her back legs were giving out on her.. y’all are absolutely sick and need to treat these animals better. Does this really look like an EIGHT month old shepherd? absolutel idiots.

I too adopted what I thought was a great dog. Later I found out that he was being given "cough syrup" as he'd developed a cold. He never exhibited signs of having a a cold and when taken off meds, he was a different dog, but still I was willing to work with him. When, after 3 consultations with dog trainers and another rescue, it came down to my environment not being the best place for him. I began contacting Last Paw in May of 2020. Today it is August 10, 2020 and still no resolution. I upheld my end of the contract by doing everything in my power to keep him, including a forced phone consult with "their designated trainer" via phone (AFTER I signed up on the trainer's Facebook page for an appointment.) Bottom line, I'm sure they 'get great dogs' but adopt them out quickly so that temperment/behavior evaluations are not really done and I don't know who decided on the 'cough syrup' but it calmed his true personality. To date, still waiting to rehome as I requested that I be a part of the adoption which is truly in the best interest of the dog - there is zero reason for him to go to yet another foster or have someone else screen applications when I truly know him best and can determine the best forever fit for him. Very disappointed in Last Paw 'assistance' when things don't work out. Basically I've been ghosted.

Got a very good dog from them. However she just wasn't a good fit for us as she needs to be in a house with no kids or older kids. I sent many emails with no response from them at all. Finally got through from someone who had an inside connection. They kept referring to my dog as "the dog" instead of by her name, like she was just another number to them. I told them that I had a great foster for her (someone who previously worked there but branched out herself) and would be willing to take her on the spot. They told me absolutely not because it was a liability issue. When I asked to explain they wouldn't and just kept pressuring me. If you care anything for your fur babies please go to the human society or another rescue. This one is about the money and doesn't care about its animals.

We adopted Stella, (rescue name Sheeva) in September. She was being fostered near my home. The fact that these dogs are being fostered, rather than in a shelter, is what led me to them. I find it hard to access a dogs true temperament at a crowded shelter. I was able to watch her interact with the foster mom's young son and that was all I needed to be assured of the pup with my granddaughter. The application was straight forward and approval was very timely. I never felt "pressured" to choose a dog. It was important to them that the match was a success. Our dog was bathed and well loved by her foster mom. She was able to give me insights into the dogs general behavior by sharing her home. I still send her pics now and then. Adopting Stella was the best decision I ever made for my health, both physical and mental! She is a major part of our recently retired life!
