Causes: Telecommunications
Mission: Kinber is a nonproft membership organization that provides broadband connectivity, fosters collaboration, and promotes the innovative use of digital technologies among learning, health, media and other anchor institutions that improve the quality of life for communities in pennsylvania through research, education and public service.
Programs: Kinber experienced an increase in both new customer connections and upgraded connections for existing organizations during the past fiscal year. Kinber now has over 90 organizations connected to kinber's statewide high performance research, education, and community network known as pennren. Kinber continues to expand new services with additional service offerings to support cybersecurity and optimization of network performance in the region. The kinber resource pool supported additional connectivity of unserved/underserved communities in pittsburgh and state college areas. Kinber continues to expand and grow services and programs for new communities such as the credit unions and public libraries. As pennsylvania's trusted technology partner, kinber continued to support institutions in their campus cyberinfrastructure upgrades and initiatives and provided training through webinars, workshops, and the annual conference known as kinbercon.
