one water partnership jones falls-ipc is building a hub of partners in the jones falls region of baltimore who are working together toward shared goals of restoring the jones falls. Over 30 congregations have participated to varying degrees, with 15 of them committing through a shared covenant signing that they will work over the long-term in collaboration with each other. The congregations are leading projects such as educational movie nights, nature walks and outdoor experiences, stormwater projects such as rain gardens and conservation landscaping, and community projects such as stream cleanups and native plant sales. The congregations are also participating in trainings such as how to be a public advocate, how to teach others about stormwater, and how to lead a nature walk.
vacation bible school training-ipc created a christian watershed-themed vacation bible school program and have led trainings in baltimore and prince georges county since 2016. Weve trained 45 adult leaders at 28 congregations in this time frame, and 90% of them have gone on to offer the camp at their churches. This training increases the capacity of leaders at churches to understand watershed issues and transfer this information to other adults and youth in their communities.
