I love and respect the concerted effort of the organization to develop curiosity and support learning. Through the innovative programs offered by the Future of Flight, young people can see real opportunities and connections between aviation technology and educational disciplines. Amanda Goertz has carefully integrated multiple applications for varied learning styles. Very impressive!
As a CTE teacher at Arts and Tech High School in Marysville my students have had numerous educational connections with the F-of-F Foundation - all wonderful growth experiences. We've contributed to Earth Day programs, attended special functions and made videos for them, that they put on public dispay.
I encourage any and all teachers involved in STEM or not, TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS GEM OF AN OPPORTUNITY! Now teaching in the AMTECH program at Everett Community College I look forward to working with the Foundation as a member-volunteer.

The Future of Flight Foundation is a significant presence in the Snohomish County educational community promoting STEM education. Their exhibits draw many students, who are introduced to the wonders of flight. Their partnerships with our district schools have made engineering come to life to many more students. And their evening family events give the community a vision of future career success. We are grateful for the presence of the foundation and hope the best for its future!
Amanda Goertz is taking this exemplary education center into wonderful new realms by incorporating NASA-sponsored space science materials in her professional development for teachers. Her expertise in the field of teacher and student education will provide innovative new 'courses' to the exceptional 'menu' of science and technology education at the Future of Flight Museum.
The Future of Flight is a wonderful public-private collaboration which is maturing quickly. The $25M facility is only four years old, but it has already welcomed over 750,000 paid visitors plus several hundred thousand other guests. One of the most notable achievements is the education program, which is in its second year of stimulating students and lighting a spark of innovation in their young minds. Another success has been in development of exhibits. The Foundation has received over $20M in exhibits, cash and in-kind gifts which complement the Boeing Tour.
The Future of Flight Foundation is taking off. The foundation is tasked with creating an environment to cultivate curiosity and stimulate imagination. This is done through it's education program, exhibits, events, and foreign exchange program. Over the past year, the Future of Flight has spent considerable time and resources in developing the Flights of Innovation Education Program. This is an immersive based learning model that pairs local schools with tools, resources, and educators to encourage students to use their creativity, teamwork, and research to solve real world problems that do not have one solution. The final project is for them to present to the audience their solution, which was derived from their research. The amount of passion and energy shown, by the students is indicative of putting 100% effort into learning. The skills that they take out of the process relates to public speaking, math and science, working in a team, logic, and the idea that every member can be an important part of the team. I witnessed one student who throughout the school year was too shy to speak up in class, but desired to present at the final presentation. He did, his classmates cheered, and the smile on his face showed that he broke through a barrier by going way beyond his comfort level. There are many stories like this that demonstrate that by giving students a venue, you can have them accomplish things that are difficult to be taught in a classroom based environment. The exhibit committee has been working to create an environment that inspires, challenges, and encourages thought. This is a great organization that is a huge asset to the local community, but is also one that is experienced by hundreds of thousands from around the world.
The Future of Flight education program has invested in a curriculum for middle school students that strengthens and prepares our young people for America’s global competitiveness combined with innovative thinking skills. Their commitment to better educate our young people in math and science and to attract more of our best and brightest students into technological careers in aerospace and aviation careers is to be commended. As a sponsor of the Flights of Innovation education program we appreciate Future of Flight’s professional development workshops for teachers that promote a variety of pedagogical approaches that develop questioning strategies which advance higher order thinking of their students.
Meeting and greeting people from all walks of life and from all over the world has been an eye-opening experience. Everyone is so interested in the latest technology and the difference that Boeing is making in our area and in our world. Children especially love learning about the big planes and seeing the models in our Gallery. Volunteering at the Future of Flight Museum has been one of the nicest experiences of my life.
The Future of Flight education program addresses the needs of our students to exercise their problem solving skills at a very high level. While most programs in informal education tend to be heavily "scripted" or have the students work within assigned roles to solve a proposed problem or scenario, the Future of Flight education program presents students with real-life problems. The students then immerse themselves in researching the situation, deciding what role they prefer to play, and developing the expertise needed to work out solutions as a team. This is true research and problem solving at the highest levels.
The Furture of Flight Foundtion truly has a global story, told locally. From the local school children whose eyes light up in our "Flights of Innovation" program, to the neighbors and employees in our state's world-class aviation industry who come to see the exhibits, to our international student exchange participants, to the U.S. and international tourists--people come to imagine the possibilities of flight and innovation. It is an organization with an exciting mission, dedicated to leveraging its resources to inspire the future.
The Future of Flight provides a wonderful "hands on" educational experience through their project based curriculum called "Flights of Innovation." This educational experience provides students with a learning foundation regarding the power of innovation culminating in a state of the art facility. We can all take "flight" by watching our "future" capture the power of innovation.
I was the Boeing project manager involved in pulling together this unique public, private and non-profit collaboration. Working together with others, we developed an exciting and relevant mission, the goal of which is to excite people about innovation, and more importantly the process of innovation. Engaging the the next generation of leaders to take interest in STEM and innovation is our prime focus. Asked to serve on the board, I was involved in a number of committees, and eventually selected to be its chair. It is an honor to serve with this dedicated and hard-working group of people who have great ideas and leverage our funds to maximize impact to the future.
The Future of Flight is an excellent vehicle to stimulate the interest of chilfren in Science, Math, Engineering and Aviation. It is also Boeinng's Visitors Center and attracts both local schools and adults but a national and international audience. The facility works to celebrate innovation and allows visitors to both observe and participate aviation and related fields. Many museums focus on the past, the Future of Flight loooks ahead.
Great facility and opportunity for our local community and out of state guests to immerse themselves into a unique learning environment. A visit can excite and stimulate ones interest in aviation and what the future might hold for the next generation of airplane builders and designers. To this end the Future of Flight Foundation has created a fresh curriculum based program that allows our local schools and their students to participate real time with Future of Flight and experience what aviation does and will offer in the future. Great model for other non-profits to consider.
The Future of Flight Foundation's vision is to give wings to innovative thinking. It has developed an education program to engage a wide range of middle school students in innovative thinking and problem solving. This unique program begins in the classroom, moves to the Future of Flight Aviation Center and then back to the classroom. Working in teams in an immersive and experiential learning experience, students solve real-world problems and research careers relevant to these issues.
