Mission: The Institute for Inquiry (IFI), an independent, 501c3 nonprofit organization, has created www.instituteforinquiry.org to demonstrate a new kind of journalism. We are consciously departing from longstanding ideas of journalism which assume that an informed, participatory public is one that can reason through economic and political interests. In a world rapidly defined by biological and cultural change, IFI believes new reasoning is required. Now, as never before, public ignorance of the physical fabric of biological and cultural life has a material impact on the world being made. To become informed participants in today's world means learning what, exactly, is being conserved, innovated, or foreclosed upon. IFI proposes a paradigmatic shift in journalistic representation and investigation, online and amongst a global public.
