Mission: ILH, Inc., founded in 1974, grew out of the need to find housing for severely physically disabled but mentally alert adults. ILH has a mission to provide barrier-free housing and support services for mobility impaired adults who would not otherwise be able to live independently. Additionally, ILH advocates for this disenfranchised population.
Programs: ILH operates a fully wheelchair accessible twenty-unit apartment building. The building has been fully occupied since it opened in 1984. All twenty apartments are occupied by low-income persons who have moderate to severe disabilities and use a wheelchair for mobility. ILH's staff, of eight personal care aides, assists residents with daily acitivities twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. ILH provides additional services to residents to facilitate community integration, and provides information and referral services.
