In the Gap is full of people who are passionate about reaching children for Christ. They have excellent ways of doing so. The first way is through their summer program Operation Impact, during which they have volunteers come from all over the country (mostly teens and young adults) to get training and then teach children in multiple Bible clubs all over Oklahoma City. The second way they help reach children for Christ is through training local churches in the state how to conduct their own Bible clubs in their nearby elementary schools during the school year. In the Gap’s teacher training is extremely practical and eye-opening, and I have personally benefitted so much from what they’ve taught me. I admit I used to be a boring children’s ministry teacher in the past, but now I know how to make lessons that are fun, engaging, and educational! I’ve had the privilege of leading many children to Christ over the years as I’ve volunteered and worked with In the Gap, using the tools they’ve taught me. I started out as one of the young teen volunteers and it changed my life. Not only did they teach me how to be a good children’s ministry teacher, but they also taught me how to walk closer with the Lord and rely on Him. They go above and beyond what is necessary because the leadership understands that investing in people is what’s important. In the Gap is a small organization, but they are making a big impact.

Every person that is trained with In The Gap comes away equipped with tools that make their ministry far far more effective. Personally,y life has been challenged by In The Gap's training & spiritual encouragement, and it has been life-changing to see prayer after prayer answered as we pray together for personal a ministry-related needs. I wouldn't be the bold, ready-for-service person that I am if I hadn't had the training I received from these in-love-with Jesus instructors!

In the Gap has been a key part of my spiritual growth over the last several years. I first attended as a 14 year old and saw that God could use me to build His kingdom! I didn't want to attend the first year but I've been back every year since. Now I have had the privilege of serving as summer staff for their summer program.
One of the things I've seen this ministry do is help young people take their head knowledge to a heart level. I grew up in a Christian home but didn't know how to put my beliefs into words. Through I the Gap's training, I am now able to confidently and thoroughly share the Gospel in simple terms that children and adults can understand.
The staff of this organization exemplify servant leadership and are so welcoming, supportive, and encouraging. I have seen them invest countless hours beyond what was required of them into helping students succeed and supporting the missionaries.
I am forever grateful for the impact that In the Gap has had on my life!

In The Gap is an organization where young people have the opportunity to Preach the gospel to children who never knew Him. I love In the Gap because of the Community and teaching children in general. Our primary focus is serving the LORD with all our hearts and spreading the gospel to children. The best part was meeting the leaders and seeing their hearts for the LORD. The leaders do so much for us and for God!

At first, I didn't want to go to In The Gap. It was way out of my comfort zone, it was far from home (California), and it was quite the time commitment (about 3 months). But they worked with kids in the public elementary schools, and I had peace about that, so I went to their training program.

When I arrived, I was welcomed with love and acceptance by the staff. They cast the vison for laying a solid foundation of truth and character for the next generation; they taught me practical skills for children's ministry; they invested in me personally.

But In The Gap wasn't just about sitting in a classroom or doing assignments. You were expected to put that training to use! I and the other In The Gap students were able to go into the local public schools and teach character classes and after-school Bible Clubs.

I grew SO much in those three months.

I loved working with the children, I made life-long friendships with my fellow In The Gap students, and I grew leaps and bounds in my relationship with God. Lives were changed; I know mine was.

Now I get to be one of those staff members, welcoming new students and teaching them. I feel a responsibility to pass on the riches that I have been given. I am grateful for this ministry and how God is using it to reach people of all ages from all sorts of backgrounds and from all around the world!

By doing so, In the Gap impacts young people and impacts children—in ways that impact eternity. It has been such a blessing to be a part of such an amazing ministry!

My profound appreciation and love for In The Gap (ITG), a non-profit organization in Oklahoma City, began many years ago when I got to meet and 'rub shoulders' with vibrant, joyful, inspiring, caring, young people 15-22 who had come from all over the US and some foreign countries to get trained and equipped to teach character and bible lessons in many Oklahoma City elementary schools.
Thank you, ITG, for your continued faithful vision of training teens and young adults with life-long skills and vision that will equip them to serve others regardless of their callings in life. Thank you for serving the local public schools, superintendents, teachers, aides, who so faithfully serve the precious children in local areas.
America would do well to have an ITG presence in every community in our nation. The personal lives changed, the children who experience hope, love and joy when being a part of Character classes and after-school Bible clubs will help heal and bring families back together, show kindness to one another, and most of all --learn Who their Creator is Who loves them so much that He chose to died for each one because of His love for all of us.

I love how In The Gap (ITG) has for years consistently served the needs of elementary school children, their families, and their schools by providing quality character education and support. What a giving ministry and staff, who do their work with enthusiasm, wisdom and knowledge! Also, their online In The Gap Kids puppet ministry is topnotch, appealing to children in such a family-friendly way. The ITG outreach continues to expand, now reaching churches with excellent Spirit-filled and theologically correct curriculum which can help any church fellowship that wants to expand their ministry to children and young families.

When covid hit, In The Gap, like many of us had to change how they operated. As they were unable to go into the schools, they started producing character and Bible content over email and YouTube (In The Gap Kids). As a parent and supporter of this ministry, I was truly impressed at how quickly the organization redirected their efforts. What has been so great has been seeing God work through this challenging time to bring the In The Gap ministry to children beyond the local Oklahoma City area.

After my oldest child graduated from high school, she was still shy and introverted. She decided to go to In The Gap's Leadership in Training. She learned valuable leadership skills, public speaking, organizational skills, and even videography from the dedicated and faithful leadership and staff at In The Gap. Now she is able to speak in front of church congregations, teach the Bible and character traits in schools, and share Bible lessons and do puppets for online In The Gap Kids content. In The Gap was a great opportunity for my daughter to not only break out of her shell but become an ambassador for Christ sharing the gospel to children all over Oklahoma City and the world. She has dedicated her life to Christ and to sharing God's love to kids. We can't wait to see what the Lord has planned for her and for the ministry at In The Gap.

HI! I went to In the Gap's Summer Missionary Program this summer. It was a great experience because I was taught how to communicate to kids better and had good fellowship with other people. Even though I got a bit sick (coughing), my roomates were super helpful so I didn't get any worse.
The skills we learned were practical: I could apply them whenever I had a chance to reach children with the gospel. We were guided every day with a devotional and worship together. When the learning sessions were over, everybody was divided into teams sent out into inner-city Oklahoma. I had hands-on encounters with real kids and churches partnering with In the Gap.

I went and volunteered with In the Gap, 8 months out of this last year. It is such an awesome program!!! Not only do they equip us to be world-changers, they give us the opportunity to daily go out and make a difference in the lives of hundreds of children each week! I was amazed at how many children were influenced for Jesus. It seemed like almost every week there was a child getting saved or deciding to put good character into practice. It was really neat to get to be a part of it! I would totally recommend In the Gap to those who want to make a difference with their life, overcome fear of public speaking, or just love to work with children. I know that the training and skills I learned there {i.e public speaking, how to share a Bible lesson, how to lead a child to Jesus, learning to work well with a teaching partner, creating lesson plans and so much more!} will be so useful to me the rest of my life!

Apart from my decision to follow Christ, I can confidently say that attending the Leadership Academy was one of the best decisions of my life. Not only is the cultivated culture there life changing, but I learned priceless tangible skills as God sped up the change in me from the inside out. My friends and family were very surprised by God's work in my life within such a short period of time. Was it easy? Absolutely not! In fact, it may be the hardest experiences you go through in your young adult life, but is knowing and experiencing God worth it? COMPLETELY. This is why I am confident in introducing this organization to my friends! God uses In The Gap to grow and shape us in our various seasons we may be going through if we allow Him. May God be entirely glorified through your life in whatever way He calls!

I absolutely love the mission of In The Gap to point kids to Christ and be positive role models for them. I remember being a kid and all the older young people who made time for me and how much that helped to point my life in the right direction. I support their mission 100% but I don't have the ability to join them in Oklahoma, so my favorite thing about them right now is that they teach ordinary young people to be extraordinary communicators and that allows me to stay connected to their vision and participate with them through their prayer team even though I can't be there.

Selina turned to me and said, "I've never done this and I want to right now!" This prison inmate had just heard the gospel and wanted to receive God's gift of salvation. I had 5 minutes with Selina and I've never seen her again. Before attending In The Gap, I wouldn't have had a clue where to turn in the Bible or what to say. In the Gap was a wonderful experience for me as a teacher and as a person. It taught me how to use creativity to teach character whether its telling a story or teaching an object lesson. It was neat to see and hear how the children's lives where changed at home and at school by learning good character. After In the Gap I was able to use the skills that I learned in lesson planning to teach another group how to lead a character camp. In The Gap is such an amazing organization! God has truly blessed them and granted them favor with the different schools. That we have the ability to go into public elementary schools and teach the kids character is such a gift!
The atmosphere at In The Gap is so positive and encouraging, which is really helpful in creating an effective learning environment. The skills you learn at In The Gap can be used in everyday life, not just teaching in school. For example, finding the good in others and praising them for it. Instead of just seeing the bad or frustrating parts of a person, which is so easy to do, try to find the good in others. Then once you do, encourage them by saying how you noticed them doing this, helping someone out, speaking kindly, or showing a specific character quality. God opened my eyes and I saw how beat down the kids in these schools are. I was also able to see how just a few kind words encouraged kids to keep going.
It's so easy to call people out on the wrong things they do, but what about the good? Find the good in others and encourage them! You never know how much it might mean to them.
I recommend this organization to everyone!

In the Gap is unlike any other organization. The things I have learned while at In the Gap have changed my life. I learned so many things such as, public speaking, how to be a leader, and how to teach kids in a fun and memorable way. I will use each and every one of the skills I have learned for the rest of my life.

The thing I treasure most from my time at In the Gap is my growing relationship with Jesus Christ. I had a relationship Jesus before In the Gap, but it was shallow and it felt like a to-do list relationship - like I had to do certain things for Him to be pleased with me. However, during my time at In the Gap, God became real to me. He showed me that He delights in His children no matter what, He is trustworthy, and that He always keeps His promises.

In the Gap continues to influence its team members and change the society it lives in. The things the team at In the Gap has done can only be explained by the grace of God.

Wow! Before attending In The Gap, I had some experience working with children, but I didn't have a lot of confidence as a teacher or communicator. And though I knew it was important to share the Gospel with others and had heard various ways to approach it, it didn't excite me because I had never really done it and was actually afraid I'd miss something or get something wrong. When I came to In The Gap, I got hands on training in sharing the Wordless Book, preparing lesson plans to teach and hundreds of hours to grow in confidence of teaching. With each level of training, I learned to communicate and lead through influence.
Not only do they teach you how to do practical as well as hands-on skills like: deeper lesson planning, exciting storytelling, leading verses or songs for a large group setting and giving a Bible lesson, but they give you the time to practice and apply it immediately through Character Classes at schools and After-School Bible Clubs. And even exceeding the practical side, you have the opportunity to grow in your personal Walk with God and see answers to prayers daily.
In The Gap didn't prepare me just for the time there, but gave me skills I can use where ever I go as well as build my confidence in areas I never thought I needed.

The two years I spent serving with In The Gap far exceeded every expectation I had starting out. The staff members are dedicated to giving their best to (and encouraging) the leaders in training. The leaders in training are equipped, sent out into the community, and challenged to serve God with all of their beings. Up to this time in my life, I have never participated in a program that blended intern training, spiritual growth, and community service as well as In The Gap does. Above all the training and experience I received, I appreciated how the focus on God was heavily emphasized. Hardly a day passed without a reminder of why I, as a leader in training, was there serving--because the Gospel and Christ's truth must reach the hearts and minds of children. The training I received at In The Gap equipped me not only to teach children character development in OKC, but has helped equip me to fulfill God's calling upon my life. I would highly recommend serving with In The Gap to any teen or young adult who has a heart to serve the Lord. Serving with In The Gap was not a mistake--it was a life changing decision!

In The Gap has been the greatest opportunity for two of our oldest children to grow personally and professionally. God has used this ministry to cultivate incredible growth in their lives enabling them to teach character qualities in Public Schools and to reach children with the Gospel at Bible Clubs. They have applied what they have learned back home in Nebraska. Our oldest daughter put her training to the test in Taiwan, where she served the Lord as a missionary. It helped her especially when she taught in a school where nobody spoke English. Currently, she is the Education Director at In The Gap in Oklahoma City. After our son completed his training with In The Gap, he became the Child Evangelism Fellowship coordinator for the Lincoln Chapter in Nebraska. We thank God for the IMPACT that In The Gap has had on young adults and most of all the children they teach.

The training and experience I received through this ministry has been invaluable to me as I have pursued God's purpose for my life. The skills, discipline, and confidence I gained during my time in Oklahoma City has enabled me to succeed as a school teacher, a Bible club coordinator, and a full time children's pastor. I am now beginning my own non-profit to help children in the Dallas area. I highly recommend this ministry to anyone who wants to follow God passionately and influence others to do the same.

I have been volunteering with or directing children's ministries for more than 15 years, and I have LOVED working with ITG. In the past few years, the ITG team has partnered with us for the THSC Kids Convention, and it has been nothing but a pleasure working with each young person and staff member. I have always been extremely impressed by the skills, creativity, and leadership training that the students are given, and that then oozes out of them constantly! I highly recommend them both for excellent training and professionalism in everything I've seen them undertake.

I love In The Gap! The staff and students have a huge heart for children in challenging circumstances. This mentoring group teaches children Godly character in innovative ways in the public school system. Not only does the staff teach and mentor children but they are also personally growing closer to God and learning the art of skillful communication with anyone at a moment's notice.

Participating in the In the Gap program was a major highlight of my high school. Although I only went through two levels, I learned a lot about communication, leadership, and being a team player. I was pushed by my teammates, the incredible children we worked with, and the amazing staff to get out of my comfort zone and grow. The training I received helped me to prepare for a rigorous internship in the business world and a job teaching English and character in Taiwan.

My entire life was changed during my time at In The Gap. The environment and the truth I learned there completely altered my perspective on life. The people and the relationships showed me God's love in a tangible way. And the skills I've learned have made doing life the old way out of the question. No one thing has helped me grow as much as going to In The Gap.

ITG had a great influence on my maturing adult years. Working with In the Gap not only taught me how to teach children; it taught me how to make decisions based on God's Word, showed me the necessity of complete dependency on the Lord, and instilled the same character in my life that we were striving to teach the kids. I think I recieved better preparation for teaching in a classroom than I did in college, and I have used it countless times! ITG is a great program making a difference; not only by teaching children, but by training young people to be leaders.

In The Gap is where I learned the truth of God's love, freedom, and sovereignty. I was able to impact the next generation for Christ through their programs while I was there. Because of the belief systems and technical skills I gained first as a volunteer and later as an employee, I am able to shine my light in the professional world! I thank God for the three and a half years I go to witness His work through this incredible nonprofit!

I spent two years with In The Gap and went through all five levels of their training! In The Gap equipped me to be a purposeful communicator that can impact those around me. I loved the time I spent there, and I am so grateful for everything they have done!

All of the staff of In The Gap introduced me, and hundreds of interns, to the concept of changing the world. It quickly switched from being just a concept, and became a reality for me. They taught us that we can change the world by loving 1 person or maybe even 1,000,000 people at a time.

It's hard to say how grateful I am for the skills that they have given me, and the truth they poured over us interns. Because of my time at In The Gap, I know how to create dynamic lesson plans, give captivating presentations to both young and old, and how to write informative articles in a fascinating fashion.

Since my time at ITG, my employers have often praised me for my enthusiastic, humorous, and challenging presentations to children in elementary grades. These skills have opened the door for me to train close to 40 girls in junior high and high school in how to share the gospel with children!

If I hadn't attended ITG, I wouldn't have the skills to pursue my career in reaching the next generation. This non-profit has indubitably been a spring board for me, and I look forward to using these skills until kingdom come!

I highly recommend young adults attend In The Gap, and any potential donors give financially to help further the impact they're making!

If there ever was a nonprofit worth your money and time is In The Gap.

In The Gap helps one of the most vulnerable groups: "children". Through character lessons, afterschool bibleschool programs and community outreach In The Gap has managed to effectively change the life of both attendees and volunteers.

Some of the things I got from volunteering with them are:
- Getting to really know God on a personal level
- Sense of community
- Skills that have allowed me to excel in my professional life
- Maturity
- Sense of purpose

Coming here was one of the best decisions I've ever made.

When I first went to In The Gap, it wasn't by my choice as my parents had forced me to go. In my first session, I grew a tremendous amount as a Christian and I realized that God was truly working in this ministry. I wanted to be a part of all He was doing there, so I ended up attending semester after semester for a total of three years. During my time there, I experienced God's love, grace, mercy, forgiveness, His power and so much more. I also saw others experience what it meant to be a child of God. Out of all the twenty-two years I've lived so far, I can honesty say that those three years at In The Gap have been my best.

My children (ages 2, 4, and 6) have the opportunity to spend time with the staff of In the Gap each summer spending time fellowshipping and singing songs together. The information they have provided to my family regarding how to develop strong character traits in my children has been invaluable and rewarding to making our family stronger. I have also been very impressed by the character I have seen exemplified in the In the Gap staff and have been encouraged that my children have chosen some of these individuals as their role models. Thank you In the Gap for making it a priority to instill character qualities into our next generation!

I came to In the Gap not knowing what to expect. Their training on how to write lesson plans, make a lesson out of what is around you, how to give effective praise and how to engage with children I am still using to this day in my work mentoring teens. For me, they gave me an opportunity to engage with students who need love and sound teaching. We were able to develop relationships through more than just teaching, we also tutored, ate lunch, and played at recess with the students. In the Gap taught me not to just focus on teaching the children, but how to invest in them.

I got the opportunity to work with In The Gap my senior year of high school and the year following. It taught me more about God, people, children, and teaching then I could ever tell! I got to witness and be a part of real life change in not only the lives of the children the program is designed for, but also in my own life and the lives of the staff.

I have known and admired Chad and Alissa Christiansen (the founders of In The Gap) for many years. Their dedication to mentoring children who are in need of an adult who cares has been a powerful influence in my life. I am so grateful for the influence Alissa had in my life when I was a preteen. There have been many times when I have been blessed by following her example of leadership and gentleness, and her genuine heart when working with children. This ministry is doing great things in OKC, and across the country with the lives this dedicated couple have touched!
