Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Education, Preschools, Primary & Elementary Schools, Secondary & High Schools

Mission: IHC is a faith community whose mission is to provide a quality Catholic and secular education, to cultivate holiness based on the love and imitation of Christ, and to form responsible citizens whose Christian values will transform the world.

Results: Exceptional Academics Accredited by the prestigious Commission on Secondary Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Highest average passing and mastery scores on the New York State Regent’s Exams among the 15 school districts in our area. Highest average “proficiency” and “exceeds proficiency” scores on New York State’s standardized Math and English Language Arts tests for grades 3 to 8, among the 15 local school districts. At every grade level, our ELA tests are 15 to 25% higher than local districts Near 100% graduation rate, and nearly every IHC graduate goes on to post-secondary education. They arrive at college with a solid foundation of knowledge and skills, time-management habits, and Christian virtues. When it comes time to say goodbye, you can have faith that your children will make the right choices. SAT scores exceed New York and national averages by nearly 70 points, and the top 30 percent of our graduating classes exceed the averages by over 300 points. Sixty-four percent of last year’s graduating class earned a Regents diploma with Advance Designation or Advanced Designation with Honors. Affordable and Accessible IHC’s tuition rates are among the lowest of any Catholic school system in the Northeast, well below the national average. Financial aid and scholarships are readily available for families of all financial means. IHC offers two full-tuition scholarships: the “100 Stars” scholarship for students of any grade (K-12) with scholastic potential and demonstrated financial need, and a scholarship for new 7th graders who have never attended Catholic education but would like to give it a try. Our tuition rates are well below the cost we spend to educate each student. IHC graduates are extremely successful winning college scholarships upon graduation. Free busing is provided within the local area and Fort Drum, and all of our schools (Primary, Intermediate, and Junior/Senior High) are on the same schedule, simplifying family logistics. Outstanding Athletics IHC is known for the competitiveness of our sports teams. Our success is not rooted in recruiting or size, but in exceptional student-athletes with strong character, a work ethic forged in the classroom, a sense of mutual responsibility to their teammates, and committed coaching by volunteer parents and alumni who care deeply about the students, the school, and sportsmanship. Our small school has garnered State, Sectional, and Frontier League titles, won numerous sportsmanship awards, and routinely competes successfully against much larger schools. Safe, Welcoming, Small-School Environment We welcome students of all faiths and backgrounds. Our students, who include about 100 students of faiths other than Catholic, participate in a wide range of activities.

Target demographics: provide a quality Catholic and secular education to students of faiths and backgrounds, from Pre-K to 12th grade.

Geographic areas served: Greater Watertown and Fort Drum, NY

Programs: the St. John Bosco Pre-School and Junior Kindergarten, IHC Elementary School, and IHC Junior/Senior High School, all of which include excellent academic, spiritual, extracurricular, and athletic programs.

IHC Schools is an excellent Catholic school that has a wonderful community. The staff are some of the most advanced trained teachers in their profession. The addition every year of new and wonderful programs not only enrich your child but give them a passion for learning. The safety of your student while in school is top notch. The small classroom size helps with one on one learning you won't find elsewhere.

I am so proud to say that i have 3 children that attend IHC! As a public school girl, i found myself surprised to be sending my kids to a catholic school, but i knew by reviews and what i knew of the school, this is where i wanted to send my children..and i'm sooo glad I did! They have received more than the "3 R'S", they have learned about morality, and in general just good christian values. My oldest is a senior, and have no doubt that he is ready to continue away from home and succeed. Thank you IHC for a great beginning for my kids!

I am a parent of four children who attend IHC, as well as a graduate. The small classroom, the religious focus in the school and the family like atmosphere are a few of the reasons I chose to send my children to IHC . I feel my children are getting a first class education while being taught respect, discipline, manners.

IHC listened to my son. He wanted to design his high school years using offerings from the local community college and a virtual high school. The principal and guidance counselor helped him maximize these opportunities. IHC has vision and understands the value of collaborative education.

I am a graduate of IHC and now send my three children to IHC schools. I feel the religious aspect along with the personalized attention the children get in the classroom is essential. The education and the family like atmosphere gives the children a positive way to begin to enter the world.

Although I am a member of the education council, I am first and foremost the parent of an IHC second grader. I am particularly fond of the smaller class sizes; small enough for a personal relationship with the teacher yet large enough for my daughter to retain her independence. I love the religious and patriotic focus with prayers and the pledge of allegiance every morning. My daughter is being taught discipline, manners and respect by actually practicing them every day in school and I am very pleased that the students wear a uniform. I am impressed with the contact I have with my daughter's teacher, providing me with updates daily and an easily accessible internet connection to grades and schedule.

IHC is the best school in the area. I have four adult children who attended the IHC schools and have done extremely well for themselves. My daughter a Registered Nurse, a son who is a Pharmacist, a son who is a licensed Engineer and another son who is a Paper Science Engineer. I myself am a graduate from the IHC school system and am proud to do so. I hope that Watertown will continue to be able to provide this education to our children.

IHC schools has been reaching out to students for many years. Recently the school system has been strengthened by developing a Strategic Plan with many parents, students and faculty involved. The IHC Education Council is composed of dedicated people who want the school to exceed its already great accomplishments. It is a Catholic school with respect for students of other faiths. Take the time to visit and you will see that the school excels in many areas. While the tuition may be difficult it is reasonable.

IHC is the best school in the area, all the teachers, students & parents are so polite and friendly. The quality of teachings to prepare our kids for college is way far my expectations. Most kids graduated in IHC end up going to college. For a small school the Sports Program is magnificent, soccer football, lacrosse etc!

IHC is a faith community preparing students for LIFE. This school affords students the proper faith and educational environment needed in today's world. The Mission Statement says it all: providing a quality Catholic and secular education, cultivating holiness based on the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and forming responsible citizens whose Christian values will transform the world. How many schools in our area can make that claim !!

For the past 3 years we have been donating to this school's Annual fund and Sports programs. The Annual fund allows us to give to a cause within the school that resonates with us personally. Currently over 35% of the families attending IHC receive some form of financial aid. We will continue to support IHC because it is transparent in its practices ( we know that the money we donate is being used how we want it used) and provides a positive learning environment.

This Catholic School System is the result of combining several parish schools in the city. We actually moved into Watertown so that it would be practical for our 2 children to attend. Excellent academics, a great environment in which to mature, and a close-knit network of families make this the best choice for us of all the school systems around. Having our children exposed daily to the philosophies and practicalities of their faith is equally important. The very strong sports programs are icing on the cake.
