Nonprofit Overview

Mission: To enable and assist low-income people to attain skills, knowledge, motivation and opportunities needed for them to become self-sufficient and independent

Programs: Head start program - this program of the u. S. Department of health and human services provides educational, nutrition, and social services to low-income families with children to help ensure that the children are ready to start school. Head start serves families with children that are three and four years of age.

community services block grant - building opportunities for self sufficiency through intensive case management, guidance and refferrals, low-income adult individuals and families are aided in becoming self- sufficient. Assistance and trainings available include: supportive services, financial management, job readiness training, educational assistance, employment assistance, and housing assistance.

workforce investment act - provides opportunities for low-income youth ages 14 to 21 in iredell and lincoln counties to become proficient in school, in their community and at work. The program offers ged services, tutoring and study skills training as well as drop out prevention strategies, mentoring, supportive services and work experience/job training. Recruitment emphasis is currently placed on eligible school dropouts.
