I adopted a dog from here that became aggressive towards my family and I had to bring her back which broke my heart. Instead of being understanding they went on social media and publicly shamed my family for bringing her back and lied about why we did. I have been in the vet industry for a long time and have a long history of taking care of animals and finding them good homes. I will not adopt from here for fear of being shamed by the people that work here. They are highly unprofessional, dishonest and judgmental. It’s a shame because the dogs they care for deserve better.
I recently adopted a puppy from The Tulsa Humane Society who was attending an adoption at Glove Life Park in Arlington last Saturday. On Monday the puppy was a little lethargic. Tuesday evening he had a runny stool and threw-up Tuesday night. I was at my local Veterinary the first thing Wednesday morning where I found out the puppy tested positive for parvo. I am a disabled veteran who was adopting this dog to replace my current service dog. So far, this experience has done the complete opposite of the reasoning behind having a service dog. Not only has my family and myself been effective negatively, but my current service dog allowed a puppy to come into her home and now was suddenly removed for treatment. Unfortunately I had not even had time to add this puppy to my insurance plan. As of now we have paid $751.20 that covers his hospital stay through tomorrow. If he needs to stay longer the cost is $110 per day after that (not including extra or unforeseen medical needs).
Update. Tulsa HS contacted me and advised I could pay for treatment out of pocket I already have) or they would come pickup the dog and treat him, If I relinquish the dog back to them (I live 4 hours from them). I have decided to keep the dog as the second option is not the right thing to do. All I wanted was to be helped with the medical bill that is saving this dogs life and to let the Tulsa HS know their dogs were testing positive for Pravo. I understand a contract was signed but one does not expect a puppy, who is supposedly up to date on shots, need to be taken to the vet for a life threatening illness within days of taking them home. I just want you to be aware how Lawrence 11 years vet decided to treat a disabled veteran and his future service dog. I hope everyone involved who had dogs anywhere near the adoption that took place at Globe Life Park on Saturday 7-29-2023 take precautions so this is contained.
Thank You,
John Yates
Complete lack of transparency.
Unprofessional behavior interacting with other rescues and the general public.
They do not help local animals and only care about what brings in donations.
This organization was very helpful taking in and caring for a stray dog that wandered into my garage. In the times I have visited them during their business hours they have always been courteous and have invited me to view their animals for adoption. The dogs and cats appear well cared for and some receive special training as needed to help with their adoption.
Attempted to view dogs for adoption several different times during "open" hours, but was not allowed in. Could see people inside, but they did not unlock door. have donated items and dogfood to shelter in past, but saw my donated items discarded in dumpster later. This shelter is a disgrace and they should be ashamed of theirselves. The dogs wouldhave a better chance of being adopted by being on the streets.
