such a beautiful program! the executive director is so dedicated to helping the mothers find and obtain better financial stability and mental health while also encouraging them to go further in their education and careers, and the other volunteers are so nice and helpful in providing extra support and information. this is such a great program in so many ways. I hope more single mothers come and learn more about this program and take part in it as it not only benefits them but their families and the hollister community.
I've known Suenia, the founder/owner of House of Suenos, since we were in the Masters program of the Social Work Department at San Jose University. A long time! From the first day I met her I admired her determination and focus towards social justice. Her tremendous compassion for marginalized groups has now been transferred completely into House of Suenos. The homes she's opened for women and women with children are all encompassing, offering every aspect necessary to promote a solid foundation for the residents. I have always admired Suenia. Her focus always looks forward towards supporting those who need a helping hand the most. But more than a hand she's giving opportunities towards creating solid, lifelong foundations in education, employment, and forever homes for the women and their children in House of Suenos.
House of Sueños is a great and devoted program working to help single mothers and their children with housing resources and feeling empowered. As an intern, I have worked with Suenia to help keep the program organized and learn how to better serve the in-house residents. Suenia is outstanding at what she does in providing support to the community, and I am very fortunate to have the opportunity of having her mentor and guide me into the mental health field.
This organization was created out of a deep need for housing for women and children. This program includes not only housing but therapy as well to support the mothers to break the chain of homelessness.
Great organization!
House of Suenos is a valuable and needed service to our small community. They provide ongoing support to women and children who have been abused, become homeless, or who have a limited income. The average stay in a women's shelter is 3-weeks to 30-days. House of Suenos has no time limit. They provide mental health counseling for moms and their children; give direction for education and job training; assist them with health and social services available to low-income families, and maintain balance and structure while the moms get back on their feet.

My experience at the house of Suenos has change my whole life style around, compared to about a year ago. I was struggling with homelessness and alcoholism with my 3 children. Untill I came to Hollister 10 months ago. I stayed in a shelter and came across this non profit organization The house of Suenos I gave it a try called and emailed and instentaly received a call back. I have been here ever since Nov 2 2017. I even addmitted myself into rehab and got myself clean and sober. I've been sober for 180 days, enrolled into college and now staying focused on my children and our future also expecting a new member to my little family that I'm creating! What I've learned about The House of Suenos has teached me alot about life society and how to cope with my trama history, which I never knew how to do so. Now that I'm sober and have the tools and remind myself daily that it is okay to ask for help. Now I use my tool box and thank my higher power for giding me into this direction to better myself for the future, for my child and whatever come along my way. I am thankful and blessed to have positive friend and empowerment support from one another and also help gide other women and tell them my story and help them become powerful in themselves to succeed their life goals. I see life way clearer now and I'm definitely not in the fog anymore, I appreciate Suniea Romero for helping me with my family situations! She has truly been there for us.
Thank you
