Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Counseling, Hospices, Human Services, Mental Health

Mission: BraveHeart Volunteer Support Teams began twenty years ago as Hospice Suburban South, and provided in-home support to terminally ill clients and their families. In 1999, our name was changed to BraveHeart, and our mission expanded to include seriously ill clients and a Children's Grief Program. We accept no payment for any services provided. Program costs are funded by donations, memorial contributions, grants/restricted gifts and United Way allocations. Approximately 225 clients receive volunteer support from our agency each year; over 5000 hours of service are provided to clients located in south suburban Cook County and northeastern Will County. Professionals available to assist volunteers include a Medical Director, Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Pastoral Advisors, Nutritional Advisors and Bereavement Advisors.
