The only facility of its kind in the county, the Hospice Home offers a quiet, peaceful, home-like environment when remaining at home is no longer possible. Hospice of Rockingham County follows up with patients' families for a 13-month bereavement period after a patient's death and also offers its grief and bereavement support services to anyone in the community with grief & loss support needs. As additional outreach services, HRC offers its Support Care Program to the community. SCP provides support to individuals and their families coping with life-limiting illnesses but are not yet ready for hospice care. Participants have access to an HRC nurse, chaplain, and social worker for support and education. Since no hands-on care is provided, participation in the Supportive Care Program does not interfere with services provided by any other agency nor does it prevent patient from seeking any sort of aggressive/curative therapies.
