Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals, Veterinary Services

Mission: To end the euthanasia of healthy adoptable pets through education, low cost spay/neuter & wellness services and to support rescue and adoption.

Results: As of August 31st, 2013 over 25,000 pets had been spayed or neutered at a very low cost to owners and shelters. A conservative estimate would be that over 60,000 potentially homeless pets will not be born into short, difficult lives. The intake and euthanasia rates have both declined and will continue to do so, allowing shelters and rescues more space and resources to help those animals in their care.

Target demographics: pet owners in financial distress

Direct beneficiaries per year: over 8,000 pet owners get their animals the care they needed while preventing over 17,000 potentially homeless pets from being born. Last year we helped reduce euthanasia in our area by over 1,000 pets.

Geographic areas served: Northeast Indiana

Programs: low cost spay/neuter low cost wellness center Free vaccine outreach programs Community Cat programs Intercounty transports Inner city transports

I found 2stray kittens a couple years ago. It would have cost me several hundred dollars per cat for shots, tests & surgery. Thanks to H.O.P.E.'s reduced fees, I was able to provide a home for both. Their staff is very caring & friendly.

I have had all of my furbabies fixed through hope for animals, even my pitbull. When I brought him in they could see he was just a big baby and they treated all my babies with pure kindness and love.

Hope for Animals is one of the greatest organizations in Fort Wayne. All of our barn kitties visit this facility. We are so lucky to have them.

After my German Shepard got fixed, I got a call from hope for animals. The first words out of their mouth was, "your girls are okay," they just wanted me to know their surgery went well. How considerate that they knew I would be worried.

We brought our newly rescued pup in to be spayed. The staff was very interested in her breed. We were thinking husky but small dog. They staff just fell in love with Lolly so when they had her for surgery they spent some time researching her breed. When we picked her up they shared with us they thought she was a Norwegian Elkhound and Whippet. Lolly never grew into a big husky, she's only 18lbs but I think they got it right. They take great care of Boo and Lolly and we love that we have this resource in our area.

I was recently given 2 puppies after my rescue companion of 15 years passed away from Cancer. I was worried about how I will care for them properly since I am retired & on a fixed income. I was able to get all the shots for both of them for about $120. I made an appointment to have them spayed & neutered this month for about $130 total. If I can’t afford to pay it immediately, I can put it on Care Credit for deferred payments. Everyone was so kind & professional. They answered all my questions, & even helped me get them back in the car, which was difficult since I use a cane. I appreciate all they did, & will do for me, and for the whole community! I highly recommend them to everyone. Thanks from Marley & Tess, too!

We love hope for animals! Very professional and friendly staff and a very clean environment. We went to them for our puppy's shots and to get her spayed. We've also visited the wellness center a few times for deworming medicine and to get her nails clipped. We've been recommending them to everyone we know who gets a dog!

I love this place. They're making great strides in combatting overpopulation. I sponsored 4 spays for my shelter fosters for just $20 each one month (which saved one from a very silent pyometra) but don't let the low costs fool you. Their services and facility are top notch because of grants and donations and the people who work there are informative, friendly and caring. A+.

Hope For Animals was wonderful in helping me get a small dog I had taken in sight unseen that turned out to have several health problems. Thanks to Hope the dog was on his way to recovery. I count on them to help keep all my dogs healthy. The service they offer such as spay/neuter is great help to the whole community. Their services help keep pets in the homes of those who otherwise couldn't afford the care needed for them.

H.O.P.E. for Animals is a valuable organization in our community and surrounding areas. We are a better place because of the services they provide. They support our community through low-cost spay and neuter programs, discounted microchipping and vaccinations, general health services, and much more. Their Community Cat program is helping to decrease the population growth of feral cats, thus making the colonies healthier, which can deter free-roaming strays from entering the territory. I support this organization because of the enormous, positive impact it has on the euthanasia rates for our area.

I'm very confident in their abilities and compassion in dealing with animals. Their prices are much more affordable as well. My only issue is that although they provided all the needed info for pre-surgery, I received not one word of post-surgery info ahead of time. I used their services years ago for cats... but never for a dog. I had no idea neutering a male DOG requires a lot more aftercare and restrictions than a male CAT and it's a lot harder on a dog. Believe me, I have no problem with providing all necessary love and care for our pup for whatever amount of time it takes, BUT had I known post-surgical restrictions lasted 14 days I would never have scheduled neutering for our male dog when I did. It completely ruined our plans for the following weekend (9 days later) for our dog and for ourselves. Just one statement from them (during scheduling) to make me aware that restrictions last 14 days would have made all the difference. Then I could have asked any specific questions in regard to our plans and known BEFOREHAND that it was not good timing. There would have been no problem on our part waiting until another time to take him in. Their care and caring are excellent but more information BEFORE scheduling, specifically about restrictions AFTER, would be so beneficial.

Worst experience of my life!!! They NEVER told me a pickup time then said they would CALL ME when my dogs were ready to be picked up. Apparently the latest pickup time was at 4:15 and they did not call me until 4:53!! 7 minutes before they closed!! When we got there, they said there was a late fee!! But the rude manager came out and talked to me. She was disgruntled and rude but stated that she would waive the late fee. But after initially paying $170 at drop off, I had to pay $47 to pick them up, even though the fee was supposedly dropped!!! I am more peeved at the fact my dogs had been done for hours, waiting in cages, stress levels going crazy, when they could have came home with me when they were finished!! I will never come back again and I will make sure everyone knows NOT to take their pets here!! If you genuinely care about your animals, please do yourself and them a favor and go somewhere else!!

I have took 2 of my dogs and 2 cats to get fixed here.. absolutely love them!! Worth the drive of 45 minutes with a husky to have that compassion.
