I'm really glad my friend Matt told me about the Hollywood Arts Council and its mission to support and nurture the arts for young people in Hollywood. As someone whose exposure to both music and theater at a young age has helped enrich my life in ways I couldn't have imagined back then, I'm more than glad to support an organization that wants to bring the inspiring spark of creativity to the young minds of today!
I have been volunteering with this organization for nearly 5 years. I have had the amazing experience to attend numerous community art events, help out with the children's festival, assist in planning the spirit event, and being able to observe first hand the wonderful school programs that project "SOAR" provides to local schools. This is a dedicated group of artists, and creative people who truly care about the Hollywood community. Thank you for allowing me to be a member in such a fine non-profit.
The Hollywood Arts Council supports the Arts in Hollywood but the effects of their mission go much further. The Children's Art Festivals brings families together in the creation of arts and crafts. The activities are free and in it's 30th year, people who came as children are now bringing their children. The HAC also took a stand for local theatre against the union which seems determined to undermine great theatre in LA. Their Project SOAR brings performance and visual art professionals into the classrooms in schools where arts have been abolished. The Hollywood Arts council works hard in their fundraising and turns the money back into the community. Suzanne, Artist/musician/educator
I volunteer with this group at their events and sometimes in the office. They are organized, friendly and do a lot of work behind the scenes in the community. I feel I get a lot of value from my membership. Keep up the good work!
The fact that the Hollywood Arts Council uses art to help at-risk youth, especially through Project S.O.A.R., is what drew me to the organization. Well, that and our amazing Executive Director, Shauna McClure. What I found when I joined the board is a wonderfully diverse group of people, all with the same goal of using art as a healing mechanism. I'm very excited as we prepare for our 30 Children's Art Festival on August 8th at Paramount Studios!
The Hollywood Arts Council is an amazing organization! In addition to supporting the arts in Hollywood, they take an active role in keeping art a part of our life. From the wonderful PROJECT SOAR that brings professional artists and arts classes to our local elementary school to the public art projects throughout Hollywood to the annual Children's festival. Truly a real gem in the city of glitter! Patti Negri
What a terrific organization, keeping arts alive in Hollywood. I cannot think of a better use for my money than nurturing our children and our community. BRAVO!
The Arts are about so much more than making pretty things. It's about designing the car you drive, the home you live in, the clothes you wear, the computer or smart phone you use. It's about making the movies and TV show you watch, the music you listen to. Many of the people involved in these things we use every day were once children and young adults who were captivated and inspired by the arts around them. What a sad, grey world this would be without the inspiration of the arts. The Hollywood Arts Council's work is important in keeping the Arts both visible and accessible. I volunteer with them because I want to help them make a difference.

The Hollywood Arts Council is THE organization helping keep the arts alive in the schools of Hollywood, which is vital not only for our city but for the Nation. Hollywood is the entertainment capital of the world and should emulate the arts in every way, more so than any place else. But sadly budget cuts have hit the arts in a very big way. I am proud of my service with this organization and do all I can to forward its purpose to nurture the arts here. But they go beyond the schools and encourage art of all kinds for for people of all ages. Bravo, I say!!!
We want to thank Hollywood Arts Council for PROJECT S.O.A.R. at my daughter's school Micheltorena Elementary. She took a printmaking class given by Nic who was a wonderful teacher. She was very excited to go to school on the days she would have that class. The arts are so important to kids! Thank you.
My son and daughter took classes that were provided by the Hollywood Arts Council through Project S.O.A.R. Their teacher was Melissa. She was excellent and you could tell she really cared about the kids and what they were doing. They learned a lot and looked forward to school because they got to participate. I am very grateful that they got this chance.
What an amazingly constructive organization--bringing the arts to kids, the future of culture in our city, state, and country. They're doing a great job!
The Hollywood Arts Council is a wonderful public benefit organization dedicated to contributing to the quality of life in the community by promoting, nurturing and supporting the arts of Hollywood.
Born and raised in Los Angeles, I support the Hollywood Arts Council as a trustee because I know the importance of keeping the arts alive and healthy in our community. I love how Project S.O.A.R. gives children the opportunity to express their creativity through workshops with professional artists. I will continue to support the next generation of artists through the HAC!
The Hollywood Arts Council provides an invaluable service to the community, this includes an amazing arts education program for children and promoting the work of local artists. Additionally, their efforts to celebrate and preserve the creativity and artistry that is associated with Hollywood, both past and present, is highly commendable.
The Hollywood Arts Council is an organization that everyone should support -- it provides the community with programs that keep the arts at kids' fingertips and programs that promote overall artistic growth.
A stellar organization that has provided over the years wonderful support to the artistic and cultural life of Hollywood and its surrounding communities.
From connecting working artists who provide free arts curriculum at elementary schools in the Hollywood area, to supporting live theatre in Hollywood, the Hollywood Arts Council ensures the community has a place at the table with developers, politicians and policy makers, ensuring a vibrant arts environment continues to thrive in Hollywood. For over 30 years and through multiple events all year long, the Hollywood Arts Council connects its membership with artists and businesses in the community, creating partnerships that strengthen the community. It's a great group!
My kids participate in the Hollywood Arts Council Project SOAR program. They are in 4th and 6th grades and they both love it! They have learned so much and have had fun. My son's painting class had a big show and he was so proud to show off his work. It really helped his self-confidence.
My child attends elementary school in Hollywood. He recently took an after school class from Project S.O.A.R doing singing and dancing. He is pretty shy but wanted to try it. He had a great time and learned a lot and his self esteem really improved. He even had a chance to perform in front of an audience at Roosevelt hotel in front of 400 people. It made him feel very proud and happy and I am so grateful that there are groups like the Hollywood Arts Council doing things like this for kids!

The Hollywood Arts Council has been in operation for more than 35 years, and serving Hollywood in a lot of ways. I volunteered with them at their last event The Spirit of Hollywood at the Hollywood Athletic Club. Everyone was really nice, and the board and staff are outgoing, approachable and friendly. They do a lot of good things in Hollywood - art classes for under-privledged kids, a free art festival, public art projects and more. I am glad I became a member and I will continue to volunteer and support.
The Hollywood Arts Council is a fantastic organization that works hard to support the arts and arts education in the Hollywood Community. The staff is enthusiastic, passionate and dedicated. From public murals to their Project SOAR workshops in the underfunded elementary schools of Hollywood, they have been tirelessly working for over 35 years to keep the arts and the town thriving.
So glad to get to know this group. As a professional working artist, I've enjoyed Hollywood Arts Council events in the Hollywood area and the opportunity to get to know and collaborate with many interesting people. I am grateful there is an organization dedicated to keeping the arts alive and thriving in our community, and I love that they do work with school kids by bringing professional artists to the schools.
The Hollywood Arts Council's list of accomplishments is long and varied. As its president for many years, I have been privileged to serve the community and its arts through this "can do" organization. We have self-produced art shows, concerts, theatre tours, symposiums for newly arrived immigrants from the former Soviet Union and Armenia, maintained a daily calendar of art events and an annual Children's Festival of the Arts that's now in its 26th year. This has all been accomplished through the generosity of our donors, our volunteers and board members.
I'm proud that even in these serious financial times, we have sustained our programming, revitalized Project S .O.A.R., our after school art workshops for elementary school children in Hollywood's Title 1 schools and hired an executive director to help us create the Hollywood Arts Council for the 21st Century.

I have participated and volunteered with the Hollywood Arts Council over 30 years. HAC is a fabulousorganization which supports, promotes and nutures all types of the Arts and Artists in Hollywood (fine art, mural art, photographic art, architectural art, dance art, etc). One of the main focuses of the Council is to provide after-school art programs for our students in the elementary schools of Hollywood who would have no arts education, otherwise.
Fun(d)raising projects during the year raise the money to hire professional artists to run these after-school projects. This is a very fun and valuable non-profit organization! Come join us!
The Hollywood Arts Council is an organization that was formed over 30 years ago to promote and support arts and culture of our world famous community. Because of its existence, the fundamental of arts and entertainment plays a major role in the current$4 billion redevelopment process.
As well, the organization's after school arts program. Project SOAR is transforming the lives of 4th and 5th graders in Hollywood who would otherwise not have arts as part of their education.
As an advocacy organization, the Arts Council has led the way in Los Angeles.

As a new resident to the Hollywood area I located a great non profit group to join as a volunteer. The Hollywood Arts Council provides much needed arts support to the local community and schools. The council needs volunteers and I am happy to share my time with a great group of dedicated people who truly want the arts to be experienced by everyone. If you have some time, skills, and desire to help the local area improve the arts I strongly urge you to join. I have assisted with several events and have met many wonderful caring individuals who truly believe in their mission.
