Mission: Habitat Beaver County's vision is a world where everyone has a decent place to live. Through our program, Habitat homeowners achieve strength, stability, and self-reliance through homeownership.
Results: We have been partnering with people in our community since 1992 to help them build a place they can call home. We have helped homeowners improve their lives through decent, affordable housing throughout Beaver County. In addition, we serve our local communities and improve neighborhoods by rehabbing blighted houses or building on vacant lots.
Target demographics: People in the community who are in need of improved housing
Geographic areas served: Beaver County
Programs: Our Homeownership Program helps people who may not qualify for a conventional mortgage to own a home. To qualify for our program, applicants must have a need for improved housing, a steady base income adequate enough to repay Habitat Beaver County but too low for a conventional mortgage, and a willingness to partner with us in the form of sweat equity. Habitat Beaver County also has a ReStore thrift store, which sells new & gently-used home furnishings and building materials to the public at below retail prices. Proceeds from ReStore sales help fund the construction of Habitat houses in Beaver County. Purchases from the ReStore also help the environment by putting quality surplus materials into practical use instead of into a landfill.
