I am a former board member of Growing Home, Inc., and during my six years on the board I had the opportunity to see the foundation prosper in regard to the persons and services that they provided. My personal favorite is the Parents as Teachers Program, which guides parents in several aspects of parenthood. What better way to help the children succeed in this world than to start at the source? Growing Home continues to help parents/guardians and their children with other programs such as the Sprouts Program and Incredible Years. Of course, we can't ignore the food pantry and the shelter program, which is run much of the time by its wonderful group of volunteers who give their time, talent and hearts to Growing Home. It is a well-rounded service organization with volunteers and staff members who are proud to be part of such a meaningful foundation.

I originally found out about Growing Home in 2008, and I believe I saw them on volunteermatch.org. I volunteered in the office for a year or so before moving 50 miles away. I still volunteer for them, mostly from home, helping with marketing and eNewsletter production.

Growing Home is just an amazing organization that helps entire families through multiple programs, like Parents as Teachers, Sprouts after-school classes, transitional housing, rent assistance, and a great food bank. I think Growing Home sets itself apart by really focusing on allowing clients to maintain their dignity.

I am a volunteer and a donor, and I can't say enough good things about this group of dedicated people.
