Unlike the pride events in large cities, PS Pride is truly the most personable and friendliest pride event you could ever experience. Don't miss it!
We work with PS Pride to present women centric events for the LGBTQ+ community. Since day one some five or six years ago PS Pride has worked closely with us to be part of their great programming. With their support we continue to produce events for the community that speak to our values as queer women, lesbians, trans and non binary. Can't speak enough about their professionalism!
Each year, the program that Palm Springs Pride delivers gets better and better. It is one of the most inclusionary events in Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley, ensuring that all of our diverse communities are represented.
I look forward to this year's celebrations that will continue to recognize what the theme states: You Are Included.
I’ve supported dozens of non-profit organizations over the past 40 years and Greater Palm Springs Pride is one of the best run and most impactful in the country. Their work is inspiring and has an international reach.
I have served on a number of boards in Texas and now Palm Springs. Palm Springs Pride is without a doubt the best non-profit organization I have served on. Palm Springs Pride provides support and monetary assistance to many charitable organizations in the greater Palm Springs area. From food banks to high school student scholarships, Palm Springs offers assistance to diverse and needy organizations throughout the Coachella Valley. In its long history of service to the greater Palm Springs area, it has been the recipient of several awards and honors. It is well respected and receives generous support from the community, merchants, the city council , local schools, and the hundreds of volunteers who assist in producing events throughout the year. I am very proud to have served in many capacities for this worthy non-profit.
Greater Palm Springs Pride is a fabulous organization with hundreds of volunteers and a very dedicated and talented chair, Ron deHarte. The organization brings so much to the greater Palm Springs area with the annual celebration, festival, parade; draws thousands and thousands of people together; also is involved with Harvey Milk Diversity gathering, Safe Schools for our youth, and other special events. It is a privilege and pleasure to work with Ron and so many others who are part of the Pride family. Entertainment, celebration, unity, diversity, serious thought-provoking and world-wide involvement and recognition, a collection of everyone in a positive light.
After moving to Palm Springs, CA to recover from a serious illness, I had no sense of community or friends. At 60 years old I was on the forefront of being "out" and watched the struggles so many people had. I was also now considered one of the elder gays which left me still feeling alone. But, the one thing I always felt connected to was being a part of Pride celebrations. After all, festivals and Parades are often a place for supporters to publicly come together and celebrate and find community and a safe space. Actually my very first Parade experience in Los Angeles I was surprised to find my parents, who just found out I was gay weeks before MARCHING with PFLAG to show support for me. That made me very fortunate back then in 1981.
But, we are also in a time and age when gay rights are increasingly becoming a reality in many nations, but gay pride still matters. So, I started volunteering for a few different Pride organizations including Palm Springs Pride. As my interest increased on sharing experiences and being a part of what helped me be comfortable with myself I began to volunteer more and more. Now, I am the Director of Volunteers for Palm Springs Pride and have an active hand in bringing together over 300 local volunteers to produce and share this amazing opportunity again with my community.
Why does all this matter, though? Why is gay pride still important?
Because there’s still more work to be done, and I have the drive to push it further, the history to share with its new leaders and the love of a community that I once was nothing but a stranger to, here in Palm Springs.
At a time when there is much darkness for members of the LGBTQ+ community in many parts of the world, the Coachella Valley is a beacon of hope, and Greater Palm Springs Pride Inc. is a crucial, essential, integral part of what connects and strengthens the community I call home.
Palm Springs Pride is at the forefront of advancing conversations needed to create a world that is not only inclusive of, but empowering for, all of its inhabitants. None of us are free until all of us are free, and Palm Springs Pride thinks globally while acting locally.
I am extremely grateful to the Greater Palm Springs Pride Inc for their amazing work, and grateful to be a collaborator as well.
With Gratitude,
Nicholas Snow, Producer/Host
