In 2017,visit philadelphia showcased and strengthened the philadelphia brand through well-rounded and high-impact marketing efforts including compelling content and strong media relations (10,180 editorial stories); the "with love/phillyosophy" advertising campaign; the city's official visitor website (20+ million visits); social media (1. 47 million fans and followers); event and attraction promotion (e. G. Festivals, exhibits, holiday happenings, parks and trails, dining and more); 13,990 bookings of the visit philly overnight hotel package; and partnerships and sponsorships to further our message. The purpose of these efforts is to increase the number of visitors to the philadelphia region, increase the number of nights they stay, and the number of attractions they visit. In 2017 over 43 million people visited philadelphia for an economic impact of nearly $11 billion. 88% of those visitors were leisure travelers. Since visit philadelphia's inception in 1997 leisure hotel room nights in center city philadelphia have increased 300%. Since 2007, philadelphia's saturday night hotel occupancy, which is a major indicator of a destination's leisure strength, has been the busiest night of the week.
