For over 20 years the Flag Caper has delivered community unity and patriotism to Irving, Texas. Led by Nell Anne Hunt and a team of dozens of volunteers, the town is painted red, white and blue with flags being placed every few yards to mark the 4th of July.

What a way to inspire patriotism! This organization "paints" Irving, TX, red, white, and blue every July 4th! It started by "planting" American flags in one neighborhood twenty-two years ago, and it is now city-wide! The large scale effort unites the city and promotes patriotism among all ages! Many volunteers "plant" and "harvest" flags around the 4th of July to remind everyone to celebrate and be thankful for our country's independence.

This project's goal is to promote patriotism, bring neighbors closer and share our pride in our country. Over 300 volunteers lovingly place over 40,000 American flags in front of homes , churches and businesses on the 4th of July. We are a diverse group brought together because we love our country. We want to pass on that love to the next generation. We have grandparents who take along their grands to help put out flags--and on the way they tell the grands why this country means so much to them. We often share our flags with military groups who want to put flags on the graves of the soldiers. After our flags are placed, we all gather together for a Patriotic Potluck dinner at my house. We sing patriotic signs and visit with all our volunteers.
