The 99-cent color of the day sales a few years ago helped clothe hundreds of San Antonio's homeless. On behalf of my parish's homeless ministry, my family and I shopped 3 local Goodwills on a regular basis, purchasing coats, jackets, and sweaters as the cold weather months approached. We turned the goods over to the ministry, which distributed them to CAMS, SAMM, GI Forum, and other non-profits to distribute to clients around the holidays. No other outlet provided the variety and price that Goodwill offered. We couldn't have done this good work without Goodwill of San Antonio.
Goodwill under the leadership of Mr Bob Dugas has turned a once rumage sale of stores in San Antonio into a Showcase for all other Goodwills world wide to follow. Goodwill has helped, served and provided all kinds of programs and assistance mostly anything the public may need help with. If a member of the community recommends something to Goodwill, they will try as hard as they can to accomodate this person or find a program/class that will help this person and any other person in the Goodwill Community of San Antonio that may need help or assistance with this particular situation also. Goodwill of San Antonio goes above and beyond more than any Non-Profit Organization I have seen. Goodwill of San Antonio is simply amazing in what all of their personel serve and provide for a great community. Goodwill Thank You for everything you offer our great community of San Antonio.
Goodwill has always been a favorite non-profit of mine because they assist an incredible number of people in San Antonio. Goodwill's mission is to "help change lives through the power of work." They serve people with mental and physical disabilities; those who have experienced a life crisis like divorce or the death of a spouse; at-risk populations; summer youth programs; and so much more. Goodwill gets the funding for this by selling your donations in their stores. Donating one chair can give someone 46 minutes of job training. Eighty-four percent of money raised goes directly toward "supporting and growing critical community-based programs and services." This is one of the highest rates for any non-profit. Thank you, Goodwill, for what you do for San Antonio.
i had 90 hours to complete here at the goodwill and it started off being very un enjoyable to do the fact that you feel there are better things you could be doing instead of communtity service but during my stay here ive grown to like it more and more all the time the people are friendly and make your stay as pleasant as possible for the time being i would recommend it as a workplace to give your time because the enviorment is friendly and the labor is nothing that will leave you feeling like a slave.
Was able to provied me with a job and other help that is very useful to me and others. Was able to give me a chance to go back to school.
Goodwill helped place me in a job, and has been good about continuously helping me better myself for current position and future positions.
I have enjoyed this class. Have waited a long time. Our teacher makes the whole differance in our learning. The classroom also makes the differance because they were all wanting to learn.
Hi my name is Rudy Batilla My story of who I am today and where my journey has taken me begins with the period of which I was incarcerated in Federal Prison. I was presented with the opportunity to gain my Certifications in Tree Management and Turf Maintenance. At that time I did not have a clue why I was considering a 30 year career change that has always been an Auto Transmission Tech to the great outdoors. I began my transition into society which started with job seeking in the hope of putting to use my newly acquired Certifications. These efforts were starting to show no hope for even a chance to show the world that I could truly offer a significant change to what ever I was asked to do. After becoming totally exhausted from every technique and strategy I was told by my job counselor at the halfway house that Goodwill Ind.was taking applications for Grounds Maintenance one. So this was the beginning of my five year journey with Goodwill Ind.that I can honestly call my family and support system. My entry level position was GM1 then GM2 then GM3 which is Crew leader and finally my present position which is Assistance Project Manager LAFB Grounds Contract. My duties are a great list of responsibilities which I look forward to every day. All along Goodwill has provided me with the training,Finacial assistance through the PRI Program,Guidance and support by my Case manager, management, supervisors and fellow team members. Goodwill Ind. has also given me the gift of being a Mentor for all who i have had the privilege of giving advise or guiding them to our many resources that Goodwill has available have recently lost my Father in a tragic accident and through my suffering i was given the honor and support of all the Executive staff but to include the CEO himself not only the visit to the Rosary but also the Funeral. I will never forget this. The help and support to to launch my dreams and keep them a reality each day is a gift that has touched my heart and i can only compare with the birth of my lovely daughter which made my family and Goodwill Ind. a whole I will forever be committed to Goodwill’s Mission and goals where ever my future takes me. These values will always represent who i am and how i carry on this legacy. Thank you Goodwill and Team members Rudolfo R. Batilla Assistant Project Manager LAFB Contract
Im greatful that Good Careers Academy has given the me to opportunity to better myself and give my family a better life. The cost was the most inexpensive and the most rewarding. The course training helped me obtain employment in an industry that I've always wanted to be apart of........Good Careers made this possible. God Bless You Good Careers!
I am very happy with my experience with the programs that are offered at the Goodwill, it has given me the opportunity to advance myself in my career, which I thought at one point I was never going be given the chance to exceed my career. I have bought along with me my daughter and my niece to share the experience as well. We all are taking the Medical Front Office Assistance classes.
My experience here at the Goodwill has been great, everyone here is friendly and always willing to help with needs i may have.
As a recently released state prison inmate I find it extremely difficult to find a full-time job. The economy is shrinking and so many companies are very concerned about security and background checks. The Goodwill Job Help Center has been a blessing in many ways. The tools for resume building, job leads and web sites have been very helpful, but the greatest help for me has been through the steady, supportive, positive attitude shown by the caring staff. They are a fine group of people and I'm proud to be associated with them. I recommend the Goodwill Job Help Center to anyone, regardless of career level, for resources to find a job.
