Mission: Goodwill industries of north central wis is a not-for-profit human services organization. Its mission is "elevating people, transforming communities". Goodwill ncw's vision is to create a world where every person finds joy and purpose free from fear, exclusion, want or need. In 2017, goodwill ncw and its related organizations touched the lives of 72,937 people. Of that total, 64,816 people were served through goodwill ncw's 28 programs and services in 2017 with 8,121 served by related organizations. These programs help people with disabilities and other special needs learn life skills, get job training, become more independent, and build on their dreams. Goodwill ncw serves 35 counties and operates 27 retail stores/training centers along with one outlet store.
Programs: Goodwill industries of north central wisconsin, inc. Has a community development program that provides opportunities in each of its 27 retail stores/training centers for individuals with disabilities and other barriers to get hands-on training and work experience. Goodwill grows: provides gardening opportunities and the use of green space for the purpose of promoting healthy living, increasing food self-sufficiency, and providing the opportunity for social interaction with friends, neighbors, and fellow gardeners. Lgbt partnership: provides safe space where youths and adults can feel supported and understood, make friends, learn healthy life choices, develop leadership skills, fell valued and respected and talk and be heard. Miracle league fox cities: gives children with disabilities ages 4-19 the opportunity to play baseball in an organized, non-competitive league on a safe, accessible baseball field (1,112 served in 2017). Neighborhood partners: supports communities with a grassroots, asset-based approach at a neighborhood level, where all people can work together to produce the quality of life they want and deserve. Neighborhood partners builds the capacity and leadership of neighbors to build relationships, determine their priorities, and take action together to transform the place where they live. Neighborhood partners then helps coordinate the resources of the private, private non-profit, and government sectors to support the work (535 served in 2017). Prosperity center: program helps individuals navigate higher education through to gainful employment (90 served in 2017). Restorative justice programs (barron, eau claire and marathon counties): operates three programs in goodwill ncw's 35-county region to get offenders to understand the impact of their behavior, to empower victims in their search for closure, and to promote restitution to victims and communities (2,588 served in 2017). School-to-work: helps students with special needs develop work skills and behaviors through paid work experiences and classroom learning (66 served in 2017). Talent shop: nonprofit consignment store in wausau where area seniors earn income by selling their handcrafted items (408 served in 2017). Transitional support program: provides vocational and employment support to people with special needs who are approaching readiness for employment in the community but are ineligible for funded programs (19 served in 2017). Vocational evaluation: assesses individual vocational interests, aptitudes, abilities and needs through various tools and evaluation techniques (93 served in 2017). Volunteer income tax assistance: offers free tax assistance, preparation and electronic filing services for persons with low-to-moderate incomes, people with disabilities and older taxpayers (3,296 served in 2017). Voices of men: program encourages a community where men treat all people with dignity. Helping end sexual assault and domestic violence by dismantling man box culture and building a culture of healthy manhood (6,320 served in 2017). Work adjustment training: a short-term training program for people with disabilities who use goodwill worksites to develop work skills and behaviors (37 served in 2017). Work services: longer-term training program that uses goodwill worksites to help people with disabilities develop work skills (112 served in 2017).
