These are people who care about cats--they will do their best to match the right household to their cats. The shelter is state of the art designed so cats can move about freely. To socialize the cats and let them get used to bein around unfamiliar people, they have special programs such as Reading to Cats and Yoga with Cats.
After having supported this rescue for years, I now refuse to. The board is inept and executive leadership is weak and ill-qualified. There’s a serious lack of accountability and knowledge. While this used to be the only rescue I would donate to, there are now others that are far more deserving. I’d recommend putting your donations with an organization with the knowledge, experience, and ethics to properly steward them.
I have been living at Good Mews for a long time. If you saw the video about Good Mews, I am the beautiful one wearing a diaper. My back legs don't work anymore. I had a forever home once. My humans had a really bad fight one day, and I got shot. Most people would have given up on me, but through the help of a lot of very kind people, I found my way to Good Mews. They are amazing there. They take such good care of me and make sure ALL of my needs are met on a daily basis. I require a lot of help and medication. The wonderful people at Good Mews have given me a safe place to live where I am loved and don't ever have to worry again. I can never thank the people of Good Mews enough for all they have done for me and my kitty friends. I hope you will come by the shelter some time to meet me and take home a friend or two.
We adopted the most amazing family member from Good Mews. They had a foster home for him and were able to tell us all about him before we brought him home. We knew what he liked, his temper and the sad story that brought him to Good Mews. He was found walking on the side of a highway scared with no way to defend himself because someone declawed the poor guy. He was an adult and I am sure he never would have survived if it was not for Good Mews. I am so thankful they provide cats in need a 2nd chance to live.
Review from Guidestar
We adopted a young sister/brother pair this past Spring from Good Mews. They started out a bit sickly at the start, but were well attended to at Good Mews and have thrived in their "forever" home with us. Good Mews is a great organization with very caring volunteers (with a thorough interview/match program)! I know they could greatly benefit from ongoing monetary/wish list donations or volunteer assistance--and of course finding homes for kitties, to keep up their amazing work.
Good Mews is a no kill shelter based in Marietta, GA that helps match cats and kittens with those wishing to adopt kind. We went there to find a companion for our adult cat Alex and after extensive questioning about us, our home and Alex, they matched us with 6 month old Pixie. That was 9 years ago & she is the sweetest little cat--a great companion to Alex (who passed away in 2009 at age 18) and to Sara, Rodger and Digit who we found as kittens abandoned in shrubbery. They really care about homes and finding loving homes for their charges.
