Administration of children and families, (region ii) the department of women's health, and other local state and volunteer organizations hosted some 100 faith leaders, government officials and health professionals from the new york region at a forum, "engaging faith communities: ending human trafficking. " on may 13th, a forum on capitol hill, "the role of women of faith in the service of making and keeping peace", was held to highlight and elevate the role of women in all aspects of global problem solving. In august, eight hundred young professionals, entrepreneurs, social activists, and student leaders representing more than 90 countries participated in the 4th international young leaders assembly in washington, d. C. , philadelphia, and new york. The program was co-sponsored by 25 un permanent missions and 18 embassies. In september, global peace leadership conference, "america at a crossroads: leading our nation to live up to its founding ideals", was held with faith leaders and "leaders of faith" from 20 states and 4 nations called for a renewal of american founding values to build social cohesion and meet the urgent domestic and international challenges confronting the country. In october and december, forums were held in conjunction with georgetown university and the center for strategic and international studies (csis) explored new approaches to korean unification. The forum series is examining multilateral contributions supporting korean-led unification initiatives predicated on principles and historic values in korean culture. On december 5th, global peace foundation-usa in partnership with u. S. Dep. Of health and human services administration for children and families and co-operation ireland convened an initial meeting at new jersey city university in jersey city, nj to introduce the pilot program "cross-community engagement. "the global peace foundation - usa safe haven campaign is a much needed public awareness/educational campaign, uniquely designed for faith communities. Safe haven exposes human trafficking in america and provides direction for all levels of engagement in the efforts to protect families, and abolish trafficking in our communities. Public awareness brings an environment of accountability, which is the foundation of prevention. The safe haven campaign has exceeded its intended objectives for 2014. Altogether the director, safe haven liaisons, and the new maryland state coordinator, gave 43 programs, directly educating 1,958 people with the estimated reach of 19,511 people. When you consider that public awareness protects children, and community tips lead to cases, this is a force for ending trafficking! Human trafficking cases are made by "community tips" explains the detectives on the northern virginia task force, therefore our outcomes of awareness are very valuable in the fight against trafficking. Moreover, in this year the campaign has extended the term, safe haven, to include university classrooms, fraternities, and potentially entire universities can commit to become safe havens. Another interesting outcome is the varied and creative ways that faith communities have planned their prevention methods- far beyond what we had envisioned. The global peace foundation - usa's strengthening family program had the following highlighted outcomes for 2014:sfcc atlanta hosted two major 'securing the educational pipeline' events. The professional development conference focused on the academic side of the issue. Approximately 65 participants from 50 organizations and agencies were in attendance.
