Mission: The global peace foundation (gpf) works internationally to promote sustainable peace, social cohesion, and compassionate development at all levels of society, guided by the vision of one family under god. Gpf's innovative work includes youth empowerment and leadership development, education and entrepreneurship, grassroots peacebuilding, and volunteer service programming.
Programs: Gpf northeast asiagpf korea chapter: the global peace leadership conference held in seoul drew multi-sector leaders and cultural trendsetters to develop a platform to advance korean unification. Five former central american presidents and latin american presidential mission representatives held meetings at the organization of american states, on capitol hill and at the international trade center in washington, d. C. To examine an integrated regional approach to tackle organized crime, drug trafficking, and rising income inequalityin october, gpg usa co-hosted a forum in washington, dc entitled "painful hope: understanding, transformation, and non-violence. " the forum brought together a palestinian peace activist and jewish rabbi and settler to highlight important grassroots initiatives in israel and palestine that are working to build trust and engagement between the separated communitiesin july, gpf us, in partnership with co-operation ireland and the administration for children and families, launched the cross community engagement pilot program in jersey city, nj, which is a violence-prevention and youth leadership development program. Gpf usa's safe haven campaign conducted 11 programs in churches and organizations, including a major training session at the university of maryland with 150 students. The training presents an overview of federal human trafficking law and national strategy to combat this modern form of slavery. In october, political and civic leaders, native americans, clerics, and nonprofit leaders gathered for the 2nd annual northwest global peace foundation forum, "overcoming barriers and conflict, building trust, discovering solutions," in billings, montana. The one-day event provided a space for diverse community leaders to voice shared concerns such as substance abuse intervention, human trafficking prevention, education and race relations. In october, gpf co-hosted, along with character. Org and one world united, the fifth international character summit in washington, dc. The 3-day national forum on character education discussed efforts to integrate character competencies, intercultural dialogue, entrepreneurship and service learning into school culture to transform education globally. Gpf brazil chapter: in june, gpf brazil organized the first interfaith social forum, "unity in diversity," initiated a dialogue among brazilian faith leaders, human rights experts and to affirm shared values and collaborate to define a clear platform of common values to address pressing social challenges. Gpf paraguay chapter: in december, global peace women paraguay honored 6 women for their leadership in education and social service at the eighth annual "living for the sake of others" awards held at the bicameral chamber of the national congress. To commemorate the 23rd international day of families, global peace women paraguay organized a forum in may at the bicameral chamber of the congress of the republic of paraguay. Over 200 senior officials and advisors from 33 governmental institutions attended the event to examine the central role of the family in society. Gpf uruguay: seven former latin american presidents and members of the latin american presidential mission joined international scholars and political leaders to advance proposals for effective governance at two conferences. In september, global peace women (gpw) uruguay hosted a forum, "the importance of the extended family for the transmission of values," to urge greater recognition and support for the extended family as an important means of tackling complex social challenges. Gpf cambodia: gpf's model community-based development project, all lights village, was expanded in cambodia. All-lights village is a comprehensive, community-based model that emphasizes education, entrepreneurship, and family-based enterprise as the basis for development. The village of preah khae in cambodia received solar lanterns for 71 households and seven solar street lamps. Gpf cambodia continued its project, "basic english language instruction" (beli) to provide valuable english language instruction to underserved schools around phnom penh and offere life-changing experiences to university student volunteers.
africa national chapters:gpf kenya chapter: google kenya launches a child online safety campaign called webrangers. Twenty percent of students reported contact by violent extremist groups while online. When given the skills, students and teachers were empowered to counteract invites and maintain responsible citizenship. In september, gpf kenya launched the "one nation under god" campaign as a platform for coordinated nation-wide efforts to curtail violence, encourage youth to be agents of peace and secure an orderly election. In february, gpf kenya co-hosted a campus peace forum that brought together 500 youth to increase the commitment of university students to national cohesion and peaceful civic engagement, strengthen the resistance of university students to radicalization and violent extremism, and increase awareness, knowledge and understanding of youth entrepreneurship. Gpf kenya hosted the annual kenya interfaith youth forum, which brought 800 diverse youth together to share knowledge of the world's religions and universal principles in the context of a global ethic. Gpf kenya and intel corporation have been training female students in internet and technology use through intel's she will connect program. The program introduced innovative training software, my digital journey, and gathered over a hundred participants from government, business and civil society in kenya for the software launch on january 26, 2016. In august, gpf kenya and aritel hosted the leap hub innovators boot camp dubbed "raising moral and innovative leaders for economic growth" in kiambu county. The camp exposed some 60 leap hubs students from 12 schools from five counties to mentorship and constructive criticism in order to nurture their best ideas for investment opportunity. The boot camp featured expert presentations on fundamental entrepreneurship skills including opportunity identification, business plan basics, and funding start-upsin may, gpf kenya and corporate supporters hosted a groundbreaking ceremony for the community cooker project to advance sustainable waste management in the nairobi slum of kariobangi. The project advances sustainable development goals through the use of combustible waste to generate energy for clean cooking, reducing negative impacts on the environment, while also empowering youth with skills and employment opportunities. Gpf nigeria chapter: gpf nigeria hosted a series of peacebuilding workshops in kaduna state as part of their "one family under god" campaign to promote community cohesion with the support of traditional rulers and government and religious leaders. The workshops foster a shared commitment transcending tribal and religious divisions to build communities of peace and shared prosperity. Gpf uganda chapter:in january, 300 attended a leadership and entrepreneurship training in mukono, uganda, which introduced gpf's character and creativity initiative. In february, fifty high school teachers from cci demonstration schools attended a beginning of the year planning seminar in kampala. Gpf tanzania chapter: gpf tanzania launched the vijana na amani peace campaign ("youth for peace" in swahili) to counter youth radicalization through education and leadership development.
