This organization never tried to do anything but make a positive difference in the lives of children. For some reason, personal conflicts have resulted in negative feedback on this site. All monies have, and have always been fully accounted for, and the organization is in full compliance with the laws governing this size nonprofit. People are not perfect, and starting a nonprofit and making it grow and thrive is an enormously challenging task. Please, when reading anonymous public comments, consider that they may not always be based in fact.

Our family had an online relationship with one of the founding members as a result of our international adoption. I believe the intentions might have been good from the beginning, and we did not feel judged as a lesbian couple adopting from Guatemala, until we attended one of Global Orphan Team's events. We started to grow concerned in 2008 and 2009 when we noticed that none of the financial numbers were ever published in their online newsletter or on request. Emails went unanswered. There was a giant lack of follow-up with donors or with projects they initiated.

This charity was founded by 2 women who wanted to help orphans. But they have absolutely no experience running a charity - have failed to file any of the legal documents required. And there is talk that they have not made legal use of the funds donated to the charity. Do not give this charity money. There are many 501(c)(3) organizations that help orphans in Guatemala that you would be better served to give your money too.
