I had an incredible time in the Peruvian Amazon jungle! I worked there for two weeks and had a great time replanting trees, helping teach local kids, using a machete to maintain trails, and other important jobs! I would definitely recommend this program to any who are interested in volunteering abroad. Just be prepared for jungle life, which includes sweating and lots of bugs. You can also practice your Spanish here if you make friends with the right people and the natives. All-in-all, this was a memorable and unforgettable experience for me!

I came to Sri Lanka in December 2013 with our family and 4, looking for a more adventurous and service-oriented holiday experience. We volunteered at the Ruhunu orphanage and stayed with the IFRE program director Michael Fereira and his family.
We enthusiastically recommend this program and especially its local director Michael to family, friends, and any interested in a highly rewarding family-building and memory-making experience. This volunteer experience is typically for adults, but after some discussion and work on Michael's part, we received special permission to volunteer as a family. We enjoyed working with the children at the orphanage (we worked with the children age 3-5), and found the matron and teachers to be very welcoming and appreciatiative of our being there.
We were particularly impressed with Michael and his family. We found him not only highly competent and knowledgeable, but perhaps more importantly, genuinely open, warm, and generous. His family enriched our experience immensely by allowing us to experience the culture and life in Sri Lanka first hand. We were welcomed as part of the family - we shared meals, our children played together, and we enjoyed many cross-cultural discussions. Michael's son-in-law Indika was tremdously helpful, driving to and from the orphanage and around town to some of the more interesting local sites - a family of six in a Tuk Tuk! We celebrated Christmas with the extended Fereira family, which was an experience that we - and our children - will certainly never forget

My experience volunteering here in Nepal was exceptional. From the moment I arrived in Kathmandu I felt at home. The warmth and generosity of the Nepalese people was most welcoming. The cultural & language course I took at the beginning of my trip was highly useful. Not only could I communicate a few words with the locals, I also gained some valuable knowledge on the cultural background, geography and history of this extraordinary nation. IFRE volunteers were fantastic during my whole trip. They were always only a phone call away and provided great support and security throughout my stay. I have gained so much from this wonderful exciting country and I will certainly return one day to revive all those sensational memories I now treasure.

I have seen lots of bad reviews about this organization. It seems that they charge very high rates for volunteer placements. Then the place where the volunteer is claims that they did not get any money to cover the accommodations and food of the volunteer, let alone the donation.
