Causes: Health, Organ & Tissue Banks
Mission: To improve and extend lives through quality programs which maximize organ and tissue donation for transplantation.
Results: 2.8 million Michigan residents have joined the Michigan Organ Donor Registry to date! You can join, too, at www.giftoflifemichigan.org or 800-482-4881 or at any Secretary of State office.
Geographic areas served: State of Michigan
Programs: Organ and tissue recovery including coordination and retrieval of deceased human organs and tissues, laboratory matching of potential recipients and serology testing of organ donors and education of professional staff in the hospital setting and the general public in the need for organ and tissue donation. Activities and accomplishments in 2014 included: 254 organ donors and 978 tissue donors.
