The NC Foundation for Nursing Excellence has promoted and led highly significant initiatives to improve the health of NC residents and model innovation for other states and the US through enhancing the role that nurses can play in health care. Most recently, the Foundation organized efforts to host a summit attended by many stakeholder groups to discuss how NC will respond to a recently published IOM report on nursing. This outstanding event led to additional discussions and beginning plans to increase nurses' roles in health care delivery including health promotion. Other initiatives of the Foundation are advancing the educational levels of nurses and facilitating coordinated efforts across nursing education within the state to improve access and programming. This organization is a model of integrity and effectiveness in a critical area!
The Foundation is an energetic, informed and proactive group helping the citizens of NC receive the healthcare -- and most specifically- the nursing care-- that they deserve and want. The Foundation continues to move mountains, one hill at a time, with limited personnel and funding. Most recently the Foundation took the lead in organizing a Summit, attended by 200+ influential leaders in NC, that resulted in a work plan to address the key initiatives from the IOM Report, The Future of Nursing. The work is ongoing and has not lost it's momentum since that April event; strong coalitions are being formed and I've no doubt that great things will happen in NC as a result of this work.
The Foundation for Nursing Excellence is leading the way in addressing recommendations made by the Insitute of Medicine, such as increasing the number of RNs with bachelors degrees in nursing and promoting nurse residencies.
I am a professsional in the field of Public Health and the Nursing Excellence has made every effort to assure the inclusion of Public in their mission to positively impact nursing.
The Foundation for Nursing Excellence (FFNE) is an organization whose product supports their name, that is promoting nursing excellence. I am a nurse educator responsible for preceptor development in my Health System. The preceptor development and new graduate nurse orientation plan developed by FFNE supports professional excelence in the new nurse as well as the nurse preceptor. I was extremely pleased with the research-based content, using many of the source documents as references for my own leadership classes. The content is thorough, easily accessble, and affordable for all size health care organizations. I found representatives of FFNE to be role models nursing professional development and excellence
I have had the opportunity to attend a preceeding planned and implemented by the Foundation for Nursing Excellence. It was very informative with information that directly affected my nursing practice as nurse educator. I was able to attend becuase the cost to me was lower than if I had attended one of the other professional organization programs. Also it was conveniently held in the state.
The few people who are paid on staff do a remarkable job of having available for the nurses of North Carolina cutting edge information and presenters.
I have been amazed at the amount of work that is accomplished by this organization with such limited resources. They are dedicated to improving nursing in the state through education and the development of innovative projects. The RIBN and residency programs are cutting edge and with full funding and implementation they can transform nursing in this state. In every interaction with the director and staff I have been impressed with th teamwork and commitment. We are so luck to have them in NC. Marti Engelke
The Foundation for Nursing Excellence charts the trail for improving health care for North Carolinians and keeps the nursing profession moving toward innovative practice. For example, the FFNE has led the campaign for implementing the National Academies of Sciences Institute of Medicine (IOM) Recommendations on the Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health. In fact, due to the FFNE, adopting the Recommendations in NC is farther along when compared to all other states.
The Foundation for Nursing Excellence is an outstanding organization that makes a positive difference in the health care provided in North Carolina. As an advocate of improving the health care of citizens of North Carolina and also providing leadership for the nursing profession, its importance is critical to our state. Polly Johnson is an outstanding leader whose creativity and dedication to nursing education is a valuable asset to the foundation. FFNE recently co-hosted with other organizations, a state-wide summit on the Future of Nursing and Health Care, to bring together thought leaders to determine future directions for our state, Innovative projects such as the RIBN Project (Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses) and the Transition to Practice Project have begun due to the efforts of this foundation. North Carolina Is fortunate to have such an action-oriented foundation that is providing leadership in healthcare.
The Foundation for Nursing Excellence serves nursing education in North Carolina by focusing on opportunities that other organizations are not able to address. I have worked with the Foundation on two efforts that promise to increase access to nursing education and to facilitate the continuing education of nurses across NC. I have fond this independent organization to be an effective driver- coordinator for these efforts.
The Foundation for Nursing Excellence is instrumental in improving health outcomes for the citizens of North Carolina. They work with healthcare agencies and schools of nursing to assure efficient, effective and safe nursing practice through their Transition into Practice program and the RIBN project. FFNE is currently working with healthcare leaders, faculty, consumers and business people on 4 identified priorities from the 2011 IOM Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health Report, to "transform nursing and improve healthcare in North Carolina."
The Foundation for Nursing Excellence (FFNE) makes a positive difference for healthcare in NC. This important change agent advocates improved healthcare access and outcomes for the citizens of NC through maximizing the nursing’s contributions to the healthcare system. Through the work of the FFNE, the Future of Nursing and Health Care in North Carolina Summit brought together key thought leaders for envisioning a future for NC where nursing is posited as a key leader in improving the health of the citizens fo NC. Thanks for your excellent work!!!
This organization helps nursing field to be more professional when it comes to training new nurse. When training in a hospital the training experience is sometimes hit or miss, because you can not control the patients you have. The program that was provided to help train new nurses helped experienced nurses gain confidence when training others.
I greatly appreciate the research work that the Foundation for Nursing Excellence has engaged in. They have contributed to the vital data related to nurse internship and preceptor programs. They also work towards using a standardized approach to competencies and transition programs. Kudos to the Foundation for Nursing Excellance!
I have been involved with Foundation For Nursing Excellence for the past several years on the Regionally Increasing Baccalaureate Nurses Program, a unique collaboration between Asheville-Buncombe Technical College and Western Carolina University to avoid the Associate Degree in Nursing becoming a terminal degree, instead coordinating the transition to the Bachelor's degree through a coordinated and well-coached process of dual enrollment and collaboration between the involved Nursing Programs. The program would not be possible without the solid support of FFNE and their passion to bring service, academia and grant stakeholders together for this outstanding endeavor.
