Family Promises truly gives people a hand up and a head start. It is kept going by volunteers. Two people are employed to run the organization. The rest are people giving of their time because they believe in the organization and what it can mean for families that are homeless. It is supported by donations, churches, and occasional grant money. No federal or state money is involved. People help in all different ways. It is an organization supported by people who believe in what they are doing. It's great to be a part of this group.

Nonprofit Overview
Causes: Human Service Organizations, Human Services
Mission: Family Promise of Lycoming County empowers families to become and remain self sufficient by breaking the cycle of homelessness, provides community awareness and advocacy, and creates mission opportunities for individuals and faith based communities.
Results: in 2012 we served 27 families, 81 guests total. 41 children, 20 under the age of 5. As of 1/17/13 we have served 6 families, 13 children, 5 under the age of 5. We have mentored 3 families and currently have 12 families in After Care.
Target demographics: Homeless families, or families that will be homeless due to lack of safe or affordable housing.
Geographic areas served: Lycoming County Pennsylvania
Programs: Educational programs, nutrition, budgeting, counseling, parenting, life skills, as well as Mentoring and After Care Case Management.
