In January 2024, my wife and I attended a Suicide Loss weekend. This was 6 months after our son died. The facility, programming and connections we made remain an important part of our healing journey. From the registration process through the welcome and overall experience that weekend, the Faith's Lodge staff were empathetic, warm, and supportive. The onsite counselor skillfully guided us and the other couples through several emotional, but constructive conversations. The balance of structured and unstructured time felt right. We are still in touch with the other parents we met that weekend. I highly recommend the Faith's Lodge experience for anyone who has to face life after the loss of a child.
My sister found Faith's Lodge after the death of her 12 year old son, Carter, in 2010. She was nervous about going but needed to get away from her home and be in different space for a few days. She, her husband and their surviving son went to a family retreat. She told me it was the first time she could cry and not feel like she had to comfort those around her. She said she could take off the "mask" that grieving parents wear for the world. She walked the grounds, had quiet time with her son and husband. They collaborated on how to memorialize Carter. She said the group facilitator helped her understand that married couples may grieve differently and they must find ways to honor that and not let it divide them. Fourteen years later, she is still grieving but Faith's Lodge was an important part of her journey. She still talks to the moms she met there. Years can go by but she can call any one of them and say, "today is a hard day" and find the love and support of someone who "gets it." What a gift that is for her and her family. I am so glad that she found Faith's Lodge! It is a beautiful place and an important resource for any grieving parent.
Amazing organization that is dedicated to helping families who lose a child. It is such a beautiful place filled with so much love by the amazing team!
My journey with Faith’s Lodge started when my husband and I attended as guests in March of 2012 after loosing our first baby to a genetic disorder. She lived for four minutes. I know firsthand the impact this sanctuary can have on the grieving process for families and I am passionate about bringing this place of healing to others. We now have three kids (ages 7, 9, and 11) and we continue to refer back to the conversations and moments we had in Danbury, WI.
I have been very impressed over the years with how the organization continues to drive new innovation and programming to the changing landscape of grief. They even have a program to help employees going through the loss of a child, get prepared to return to work. "Hope Works Here" is now a benefit that my own workplace offers and I only wish it existed when I was trying to return to work!
It has opened doors to even more conversations for co-workers going through loss and continues to allow me to spread the word.
The organization provides several ways to stay in touch with the people you meet at your stay with an annual gala and multiple fundraising events throughout the year.
In a club you never want to be a part of… Faith's Lodge has provided us the community that brought us the most peace. Faith’s Lodge is ALWAYS the first resource we provide to others going through loosing a child.
We spent four days at Faith Lodge in 2023. The building was immaculate, the people were amazing, and the overall experience was great. Unfortunately, I lost three family members, including two young daughters, in a distracted driver crash on July 22, 2003. Organizations like Faith's Lodge offer a tremendous service to those of us who have lost children. We spent three nights at Faith's Lodge with eight other families whose children died too early. We laughed together and we cried together. Thank you, Faith Lodge, for making this a memorable and needed experience.
