"We adopted our dog from Emmy's Hope almost 4 years ago and have had continued contact with the rescue "director" who loves to receive updates and photos of the love bugs she has placed with families. With response to the review written by briar83crest stating that the "director" of this rescue is a "hoarder" , this comment is just disgusting ! This rescue is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit rescue and as a person who has been to Emmy's Hope location I can say that these dogs are kept in a clean, safe, and loving environment, where they are extremely well looked after and socialized on a daily basis. This is truly a labor of love for these people. If they would not place an animal with an applicant you can be sure it was for a good reason and truly for the best interest of the animal ! Apart from the application and "history check" they also come out and have a look at the home and yard to make sure the dogs can't get out or get harmed in any way. Does that sound like a hoarder to you? If they ask for two years of vet records as stated in the review by Wendy S, it's because the animals that they have up for adoption have been in many cases through horrible circumstances and often it is not in the best interest of the animal to be placed in the care of someone who does not have the correct experience or environment. It is not impossible to adopt a pet as I am living proof, and had I wanted a different dog, maybe our family or environment may not have been a good fit. Since this is not an SPCA type environment, it is based on quality not quantity of placement. Some of these dogs have come from puppy mills, hoarder situations, some have been abused or thrown out of vehicles. If she says that you are not a good fit, then there is a very good reason why. I'm sure she does not want a dog to be adopted, to then have them returned or worse, re-dumped only to cause more pain and trauma to the animal. These animals deserve to have a loving, appropriate forever home. In my opinion, if a reviewer writes slanderous accusations, it speaks volumes as to the type of person they are.
Our family is so blessed to have found Emmy's Hope Rescue. I was impressed that the application and interview process was so thorough. They really do have the animals best interest in the forefront of all that they do. This is a group of extremely dedicated volunteers that are true advocates for the animals. By taking such care with placement they ensure each animal is matched with the best forever home.
We have adopted two wonderful little fur-babies from Emmy's Hope Rescue. I would encourage anyone ready to adopt a pet to contact them.
I was very disappointed by this animal rescue. Over the course of the past few weeks I have attempted to contact them through their website, through the posted phone number, and via Facebook. The only response was a copy and paste of a form letter stating their adoption requirements. They haven't even read my responses. One would think that the goal of a rescue would be to put dogs in their forever homes, but there was next to no effort by them to respond.
My efforts and donations are going to a nonprofit that actually attempts to find quality homes for the animals they rescue.
I never thought I would be writing a negative review for a non profit. I do believe Writer(above comments) is on to something. We placed our application to adopt a dog with this rescue. We provided the necessary documentation which proved our pet was up to date on rabies and heartworm preventative, only to have the director pick at our choices and keep throwing other things in our face that we should do. We have had 3 dogs that lived to be over 13 years old. You don't have pets that last this long and have done nothing right. It can't be "in the best interest" of the pet to be living in a foster home with 12+ animals (or legal?). I would think that if you have applicants you would try to get this dog placed in a loving home. It appears to me that the director is a hoarder that uses the rescue as a disguise. No one is good enough for her and she makes it impossible to fit the "perfect" applicant for her dogs. Upon placing my application, she made over 5 phone calls to vets on my behalf. But not one time did she pick up the phone and call me to talk about her concerns. Her excuse was that it was too noisy to make a phone call, but yet she could make calls to others and make up excuses why she was denying our application. She only responded via text (mainly) with a couple of e-mails. Save yourself the aggravation and go somewhere else! There are plenty of furry friends out there that need a forever home that are not at this rescue.
The meeting all started great and then went downhill
No matter what I said she turned everything so negative and why haven't you done this and that. Fyi the dogs I have are all up to date with shots, very healthy and happy. The director as she calls herself should learn how to speak and treat people with respect, not belittling them. It's not what you say it's how you say it. Sadly because of her nasty attitude I chose to adopt else where. Learn to have an open mind and be kind to all not just to 4legged friends.
