We are deeply grateful to Edgewood for their caring support of our teen daughter. After having a traumatic experience in the Emergency Room where there are no mental health resources, we learned of Edgewood's Crisis Stabilization Unit and brought our daughter here in distress. Within just a few hours, Edgewood's caring therapists and staff went above and beyond to calm, stabilize, and help our daughter begin to heal and process her pain. They also did an excellent job communicating with us, as parents, to support her when we brought her home. It gave us peace of mind to know that we had a place to call to guide us whether she needed more crisis support, hospitalization, or outpatient services. There is NO other place like Edgewood in the Bay Area for parents and their children.
Last spring Edgewood Center for Children & Families taught our 12-year-old how to roller skate, make pancakes, and get back to being a busy tween after a bout of severe depression. The road to healing is curvy, but Edgewood gave us the tools we need to keep going. The professional staff advocates for the rights of their kids. It’s an amazing organization.
I lived at Edgewood during 1946 and 1947 in Cottage No 1. There were no daycare centers at that time and my mother was a welder at the shipyards. My father was in the Navy. Edgewood provided me with the first stable “home” environment I had experienced. I attended a local grade school and had many playmates. Spent some time in the infirmary with chickenpox and have fond memories of excursions during holidays. I doubt many people know how long Edgewood has been supporting children, but I do…. Donald J. Kerner, MD aka DJK C1 ( my laundry designation).
I have great respect for the leadership and people of Edgewood. They provide a very valuable service to those in need.
I'm a retired senior raising a child with emotional and developmental issues. Edgewood is such a great source of help and support. Every staff member I have encountered is caring and dedicated. Thank-you!
Francisco Ferrer and the team at Edgewood Bayview continue to impress and inspire me with their dedication to their mission and the families they serve.
I work at a neighboring early literacy nonprofit and have collaborated with Edgewood to deliver workshops and support services to families with young children in our community. They are excellent partners in service and it has been a joy to work with them.
I will never forget Edgewood Children's Services and what they did for my son. My son resided at Edgewood for 18 months as part of their residential treatment program and NPS school. The staff was amazing. Each person that our family came in contact with at Edgewood brought a wonderful perspective to the care for our son. The facility is clean, expansive, and well-maintained. The individual residential cottages are very clean, open, warm and inviting. (it is a very nice home-like environment....not at all institutional-like.) We were very happy with the therapists, doctors and nursing staff there as well. They were always very kind and helpful. It was a VERY difficult decision to send our severely mentally ill son to a residential treatment facility.....perhaps, the hardest decision in our parenting life...Edgewood Center helped to make that decision and the transition a smooth one. We have NEVER regretted that decision and will always remember the kindness and extreme professionalism that they showed to our family.
