Mission: The purpose of echo is to help people in need in our community by assisting those who suffer the effect of long-term poverty as well as people who are experiencing an emergency need.

Programs: Echo assisted 1,492 unduplicated households (5,044 individuals) in fy 2017. 552 households received financial assistance to pay bills for housing, utilities, prescriptions, and other essential needs. Clients received 215,642 pounds of food plus $18,480 in an expanded program of coupons for fresh food and milk, 4,551 bags of clothing, and household items valued at $128,192. In addition, 1,230 children received backpacks filled with school supplies valued at $55,350. 610 families received holiday food, and 544 children from 233 families were served at our holiday gift shop. Included in the household items were 72 refurbished computer systems. 1,924 "enrichment bags," containing books and toys, were given to children of echo families. 42 echo clients received free x-rays, cleanings, fillings, extractions, and other services at a one-day event offered by a local dental group. The school partnership program provided mentoring and tutoring to 16 students and weekend food packs for students receiving free and reduced-price lunches in 13 local schools. This program also serves as an effective means of communicating echo services. In addition, echo fosters school partnership through participation in pyramid resource fairs and back-to-school events. Echo served its community in fy 2017 with an all-volunteer staff of 440 individuals, representing its participating congregations and the community at large.
