Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals

Mission: Our mission is to match mastiffs in need of a better life with an optimal family and home that will provide the dog with the love and life they deserve. We are an all-volunteer, foster-home based dog rescue organization that is based out of southeast Virginia, and, utilizing our established local and national network, we facilitate re-homing of dogs from the very first stages of retrieving the dog from a shelter or home, to veterinary visits for vaccinations and wellness exams, temperament and behavior testing and basic obedience training, and to the final stages of meeting and moving into the dog’s new home. As a non-profit (501(c)(3)) organization, our volunteer force brings over a combined 50 years of experience in varying capacities relating to canine training and rescue work, and our passion for these giant-breed dogs is unparalleled – we are not satisfied until every dog’s tail is wagging.

I love ECGGR. I have volunteered, fostered, and have recently (05/15) adopted with them. They are a very respectable rescue and will go to great lengths for the dogs in their care. They also make sure to place each dog into a home that is best suited for them. The picked my Hemi for me and I couldn't be more pleased with how he fits in to our family. They also partner with you for the life of the dog to be a support system if you have any questions or concerns. They are committed to the health and happiness of the dog. They have an alumni fund set up to help prior adopters with unexpected medical expenses. I highly recommend this rescue to anyone thinking about adopting or even fostering. They won't place you with a foster that you can't handle. They match the dogs needs with the fosters abilities. And in turn it is so rewarding to work with one of your fosters and have them blossom from whatever their prior situation was. Then to see them be adopted (considering your not a foster fail and end up adopting them yourself) and grow even more with thier new forever family is absolutely heart touching. I love seeing pictures of my prior foster.
Overall the rescue is one of the best. They have the dog as the #1 priority and that's how it should be.

ECGGR is an awesome rescue that cares deeply about saving animals. They go above and beyond during the adoption process to find the best home possible for each individual dog. I have been fostering for ECGGR for 5 years now and also have adopted 3 of my beloved family members. Adopters are matched through what sometimes seems an unnecessary process to some, but they take extra care and precaution to ensure that homes are forever, this ensures the safety for all animals and families involved. You could not ask for a better rescue!

Wonderful organization . Professional and very well expirienced with mastiff breeds. Any dog coming into this rescue will be cared for , loved , trained & rehabbed and placed in a home best fit for both dog & humans . I've personally transported for them and home checks . The lines of communication is always open for their volunteers , fosters & adopters.

Having been involved within rescue for est 12 yrs, and volunteer(d) for several rescue groups, past & presebt, ECGGR is a very very conscientious & thorough rescue group, from pulling & saving a dog to post adoptions. They are there for the dogs needs 100%, even post adoptions. They do not save & send dogs into longterm boarding, only into awesome breed savvy foster homes. Their adoption process is very thorough, before & during their adoptions, with the only goal of finding the best match for said dog & fit for family looking to adopt. It's been a pleasure volunteering with ECGGR for several years now, and being privvied to helping the adoption process of a few dogs. They are 100% for their dogs needs from their save day to post adoption, they are always available to their adopters & to any/all of their rescues dogs needs-forever.

I have worked with various rescue groups for over 15 years. This is by far one of the very best groups I have ever encountered. The dogs are their top priorities. They commit to all the dogs they Rescue for their life and provide a ton of follow-up support.

We adopted our puppy from them one year ago today. They have been a tremendous help before during and after the adoption. They have great advice and help with any problem no matter how small. They even set up an alumni fund which helped our dog get some much needed emergency knee surgery. You can tell they truly care about the dogs for their whole lives

ECGGR started merely by circumstance. A couple of clients dogs that they could no longer handle, and were ultimately surrendered for placement and the rest is history. I cannot say enough good things about the current team of fosters, volunteers, coordinators, board members and everyone who helps in anyway. The organization has blossomed from 5 Foster homes in 2 states to 35 Foster homes in 10
states. I can't wait to see what the future holds for us!

I have fostered dogs for many different organizations, and this is by far one of the best ran, most efficient and professionally ran dog rescue's I have ever dealt with. As a volunteer I cannot say enough good things about them. Watching from the "other side" of rescue, I can say that they seem to have sincere concern for the dogs future well being with adopters and put in the extra effort to follow through with their adoptive families. Exceptional people, exceptional organization, the dogs are lucky to have this group watching out for them!

ECGGR not only helped my family find the perfect rescued dog, but remained a resource after the adoption. After becoming a volunteer I have seen so much heart in such a short amount of time. The rescues are more than dogs, they instantly become family!
