Caring staff, goes above and beyond to help struggling couples and individuals. They spend extra time when necessary, and I've never felt rushed off--not once--like in other counseling sessions I've attended over the years at various places.
My husband and I have been through both individual and couples counseling with Desperate Dependant Community. Through this we have found that Christ is real and relevant in every area of life no matter the circumstances. The Biblical principles we learned through counseling have helped our walk with Christ become more personal.
DDCommunity is unique among nonprofit ministries. I love the calm of the physical office and the consistent, faithful presence of Kirk and Melanie Lewis. I have never asked them for help or direction when they have failed to respond with wisdom and direction. They are present. They are wise. They give of themselves. They are disciples who live out what it means to be 'desperately dependent' on the only One who can help.
The Desperate Dependency experience is something every Christ follower should take advantage of, for in everyone’s life this teaching is appropriate in many aspects of daily living situations.
I personally have taken the Desperate Dependency seminar that Kirk and Melanie host. The knowledge and experience that they bring, along with their personal relationship walking with Christ will give you a true testament on how you personally can find Christ relevant in your own life. The commitment they make to you by taking their seminar will give you a chance to express challenges and questions that you are struggling with personally that you might have always wanted to ask but have just kept them to yourself throughout the years. They will take the time to work with you in this wonderful group setting or meet with you on an individual basis. The seminar will reveal personal challenges that you may be experiencing along with the comfort that you view these challenges in a godly manner. With Kirk and Melanie's teachings, you should walk out with a clearer picture on how to process obstacles in a Christian manner. I am personally grateful to have come across such a wonderful couple that challenges me to make God the center in all that I do.
As a former mental health counselor and a current volunteer at Desperately Dependent Community, I have observed their excellent counseling and teaching. I have donated to their effort and believe they carefully and creatively use resources and assets. Through the time I volunteer, I believe I am wisely investing my retirement days to help them make Chattanooga and surrounding areas a better place to live.

The counselors at Desperate Dependency were readily available to celebrate when the non-profit that I was a part of was flourishing and were readily available to walk me through the grieving process when the ministry suffered and created wounds. Kirk and Melanie are hospitable, grounded in Truth, discerning and forthright. Many workers involved in ministry have a difficult time finding neutral counsel; Desperate Dependency is a hidden gem in Chattanooga for burned out, worn out or stuck Kingdom workers!
