Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animal-Related, Animal Services, Animals, Wildlife Preservation & Protection

Mission: Darlynn's Darlins advocates for and affirms the fundamental respect and equal consideration due every sentient being sharing our planet. This guiding principle is reflected in the daily operation of our hands-on, no-kill animal rescue and shelter. Our appropriate awareness educational programs for the public, especially for young people, embody bold but simple ideas for a peaceful, healthy existence in harmony with the non-human members of the global family. We dare to imagine a better life for all ... at the expense of none.

Results: We have helped many hundreds of animals since our inception through rescue, rehabilitation, and providing sanctuary. We have made available hundreds of hours of community service for students and others. We regularly attend events hoping to educate people about the cruelty involved in factory farms, the health and environmental consequences of a flesh based diet, and advocating for equal respect and consideration for animal others.

Target demographics: animals in need and people

Direct beneficiaries per year: well over 200 animals and many youth volunteers and community service workers

Geographic areas served: Central Florida, USA

Programs: rescue, rehabilitation, and lifetime sanctuary for animals who have been victims of cruelty or abuse, abandoned, otherwise displaced, or escapees from the human food chain. We offer volunteer and community service opportunities for people where they are able to learn compassion and empathy for non human others. We also offer access to information regarding the negative impact on human heath and environmental consequences as well as the horrific cruelty and abuse involved in the use of animal others in the food chain. We educate and advocate for the transition to a vegetarian/vegan diet as the path to "a better life for all at the expense of none."

Not many people take in pigs, especially older ones. While they are not taking in any more it is so gratifying to see these animals individual personalities. I regret that I couldn't help more. Darlynn is a fantastic educator and has a heart of gold.

I am very impressed by the selfless devotion of Darlynn and Clinton for the care of the nearly 200 pigs and other farm animals they care for. They know each animal by name and can tell you about their personalities and health history. Their work is not easy nor glamorous but they feed and care for the. animals day and night. It is hard work and dirty but they are full of love for these creatures who would wind up as bacon and chops otherwise. The couple live very frugally and close to the earth in rural Polk county. They are highly deserving of support.

I was asked to join the Board of Directors and I take those positions very seriously. Darlynn's organization works hard to help animals that have next to no chance with most rescue organizations and no place to go I was absolutely happy to join the team. Darlynn works tirelessly to make the life of those animals have quality that they will find very few other places. Two thumbs up for the rescue ranch and the work that Darlynn does with her Darlins!

When I went to visit Darlynn's Darlins Sanctuary I was amazed at all of the animals that she has rescued and saved. I find it to be incredible what hard work and effort Darlynn takes to make sure the animals get the proper care, shelter, and food. Darlynn goes out of her way and beyond to try to help save animals from being slaughter and killed and gives them a life that they wouldn't have never had.

Darlynn's Darlins is a wonderful sanctuary for not only pigs but other animals as well. The care and efforts that go into the well-being of the animals is amazing. Darlynn & Butch are wonderful people that truly care about the animals. Every time I see the pigs, they are very happy. They are able to live out their lives in a safe environment. It is extremely hard to find a wonderful organization that offers that level of care for animals. Thank you for all of your hard work and continuous support given for all of the animals!

I have a pet pig which I could not keep any more because I had to move my horses to a place were
they did not allow pigs. he is such a loving animal he sits for his food like a dog, he lays down for belly
rub. if it was not for Darlynn helping me out with such a loving animal he would be destroyed. Darlynn
and Butch do such wonderful work for pigs and also different kinds of animals. it sure is a very hard
job to keep all animals happy & healthy, I just can not thank Darlynn & Butch for so much kindness &
caring for the animals. There is a lot of hard work that they put into the rescue & care for the animals. Thank you Darlynn & Butch so much for caring so much for Gods creatures.

There are a lot of animals that Darlynn and Butch took under their wings, and everyone of them is taken care of and loved. My weekly visit with the pigs, to help out with the water are the highlight of my weeks. It's a joy to work with the humans and the Animals at this sanctuary.

Darlynn's Darlins is truly a magical place. I was forced re-home my little pig when he started growing not-so-little. Darlynn took him in and gave him the life he deserved. I come by regularly to help out, volunteer, and see my boy. It's beyond impressive what she has managed to do. I've pet nearly every one of the 150 pigs on the property and you can look into each of their eyes to see pure happiness. Her pigs are blessed and her sanctuary is amazing.

Darlynn's Darlins definitely exceeded my expectations from the moment that I first contacted them last October. I was thrilled to find a place near me where I could lend a hand, and I have been even more thrilled to make a whole lot of friends, human and hooved. Darlynn is real, steadfast and amazing. She puts it all on the line for the care of the animals even if it means putting off herself. Butch is out there every day feeding and watering the animals, fixing up pens, giving all he's got.
It is evident in the way the animals greet you expecting a rub down and a scratch, in the way they lounge peacefully in the shade, or frolic playfully together, that they are given the best and most loving care possible. And the truly amazing thing is that for the most part Darlynn and Butch do this on their own, no matter what it takes. These are animals that wouldn't stand a chance almost anywhere else, and they offer to them the high life! I hope to be working with them for many years to come!

I've been a volunteer at Darlynn's Darlins rescue ranch for the last six months. The ranch is home to several hundred animals - pigs, a cow, a horse, dogs, and cats - all loved and tended to by Darlynn and her husband Butch. The organization is operated on a very limited budget, yet I've never known Darlynn to turn away an animal in need away. Catering for animals that other rescues don't accept and that are often misunderstood by the public, Darlynn's Darlins inhabits a vital niche in the animal welfare world - how many other places in the Tampa Bay area do you know that would take in an unwanted, malnourished, neglected pig, and then do everything possible to nurse her back to health?

The ranch is roomy and shady, and the animals spend their days munching on hay and laying in the sunshine. They love attention and cuddles, as well as animal crackers and sprays with the hose. Please consider donating to or helping out at Darlynn's. Visit once and the animals will happily trundle over to you for a scratch behind the ears and a rub of the belly; visit twice and eager faces will remember you and grunt with excitement that you're back for more.

I've followed Darlynn's efforts for a number of years. She has carried on through crazy rescues, hurricanes, fire, you name it ... she just carries on. Most other shelter operators would have given up and closed the door. Not Darlynn. She has given her time, money, energy, everything .. to and for the animals. No case is too hopeless; every life is worth saving. How she does so much with so little is amazing.

This is a charitable animal rescue organization operating on a shoestring. Darlynn is the most nonselfish person I have ever known, giving all, and I mean all, to her animal charges (in excess of 200, I believe). She is most deserving of your financial help.

I have known Darlynn for over 35 years and know that she has dedicated her life to helping her "darlins" and making sure they are well cared for and loved. She struggles against adversity to insure them a safe haven, with very little help. I don't know how she does it, but she does it with joy. If I could be instrumental in getting her the support and help she needs to continue her life's work by writing this review - small price to pay. She is in my prayers.

Darlynns Darlins finds the ability to withstand all the roadblocks that all but 5% of the shelters and animal caregivers would close down as they turn lemons into lemonade and keep on trucking with a smile still on everyone's face after all is said and done. They do so much with so little it is just a miracle and they can use all the help they can get from us all. No other place would drive 200 miles to get some animals spayed and nutered on their day off work because the vets in the area would have been over the funds available NO ONE.

Darlynn's Darlins has suffered many catastrophes in the last few years (fires, floods, etc.) and still has managed to keep its head above water. These tragedies, one of which would have closed a weaker sanctuary, just seems to have made Darlynn's Darlins stronger and more resilient. Despite the adversities, they have managed to take excellent care of their charges, and advocate for the welfare of pigs everywhere. Please help them get noticed.
