The Crayon Collection is an excellent and community minded organization. Always striving to bring the good in this world. True Kindness Warriors in action..!
Crayon Collection provides valuable and creative art-focused activities to youth. Their service is excellent and critical for young minds. Highly recommend!
The Crayon Collection is a wonderful, joyful, altruistic non-profit organization. Born from Sheila Morovati's simple observation while dining at a restaurant, that gently used crayons played with for just minutes by patrons were being discarded and therefore inevitably on their way to landfills, has became a global enterprise where restaurants collect these gently used crayons and repurpose them to local Title 1 schools where students from underserved communities are provided with tools (crayons) for creativity and expression. Sheila and the Crayon Collection have also built an arsenal of free art curriculum for teachers all over the world to use in their classrooms and for parents at home as art education has continually been underfunded in schools. Sheila's passion for helping the environment and underserved communities continues to fuel this non-profit as she spreads kindness and hope and possibility. Supporting this organization as a volunteer, as a donor and as an advisor has been an honor and a pleasure and I invite everyone to get involved at crayoncollection.org.
Crayon Collection’s mission is so far-reaching. Starting by saving crayons from ending up in landfills and getting them into schools where children can benefit and have the opportunity to create art thereby expressing themselves by virtue of these ‘saved’ crayons.
Crayon Collection is an inspiring organization that provides a Win-Win outcome for the environment and for children.
I love that Crayon Collection always gives us concrete ways to get involved. The mission is so critical and they allow me to take part in their work in so many ways. Sharing art projects with my community, referring teachers to their art programs, donating to specific programs, using art for kindness, contributing to sustainability and so much more.
This is such inspiring work and I love being a part of it!
Crayon Collection is a wonderful nonprofit that is committed to providing access to arts education among vulnerable youth, while also teaching the public to be environmentally conscious and reduce waste. I’ve seen first-hand how much joy their Crayon Recycling Program brings to children. For many children, receiving crayons from Crayon Collection is the first time they are given their own set of crayons. Crayon Collection overall sheds light on how something minute and overlooked, like crayons, which are often disposed of in restaurants, can really make a difference in young children’s lives. Not only do I applaud their Crayon Recycling program, their Art Education program is another way they bring joy to children. With budget cuts causing the disappearance of Art being taught in school, Crayon Collection combats this by creating free accessible lessons that are created by real artists. Some times these artists are given the opportunity to teach their lesson in front of an actual classroom of students. Having seen one of these artist lessons and having seen children enjoy having creative freedom and expressing themselves through Art in a classroom is a reminder of how important it is to keep Art as a part of the school curriculum. Crayon Collection is helping create change in schools and the environment and I'm proud to be a supporter of this organization.
A truly unique non profit that is focused on making children's lives better through art in addition to being environmentally conscious. Such a rare combination and it all starts with their founder Sheila Morovati and her amazing spirit as a person!
Magnificent organization doing unparalleled good for both humanity and the environment with leadership whose heart knows no bounds. The world is truly a better place for having been blessed and touched by such kindness.
We have been involved with Crayon Collection for years. The team does amazing work getting crayons and supplies to under privileged kids. Looking forward to more great work in the future.
Crayon Collection is the most amazing non-profit organization which serves
so many! As a family, we have enjoyed collecting crayons and then watching them
sent off to worthy groups who serve children in need. The art instruction Crayon Collection provides is invaluable in today's world where the arts is often overlooked. As in everything, the most important thing is leadership, and Sheila is A+ in that department. xo Cindy Simon
Crayon Collection is a meaningful, well thought out and necessary organisation. With compassionate leadership, well planned strategy and execution, and far reach, it has and will, continue to make a difference for thousands of children. Art is a critical, yet often forgotten part of the healthy growth and development of children, and repurposing crayons is such an eco friendly way to achieve two goals that are greatly needed. Well done Sheila Morovati!
This organization is amazing. They teach so many valuable lessons on kindness, environmentalism, art education and being less wasteful. I have donated to this charity before and have seen the impact of my dollars. I am so proud to be a supporter of Crayon Collection and love everything they're doing.
This organization is so caring and mindful of the communities they serve. They are always going above and beyond to make sure they are always helping and serving those who need it most.
The crayon collection is a great non-profit driven to improving he lives and education of children, particularly those without access to resources like art supplies and other creative materials essential to learning at an early age. I have every confidence that every dollar raised at this non profit is used efficiently, as they seek to source materials (crayons) that are essentially free but need an organization to collect them and distribute them. I am a professional artist, and like many other artists, I volunteered to design a classroom activity using the crayons which are donated by restaurants and individuals. I have also taught my own lesson to kids in a couple different classrooms and it was a magical experience. In my case, the kids were given a bag of crayons to take home, and it was like they each received the most wonderful present. And they really loved the activity which was designed to tie into be core curriculum required by public schools. I firmly believe that kids learn through visual art based activities, but many public schools lack the resources and time to teach this way, which breaks through the tedium, and motivates kids in ways that the usual classroom activities cannot. I hope the Crayon Collection continues to strive to bridge this gap. I really love the way they tap into so many different communities (professional artists, restaurants, educators, environmentalists looking to reduce and reuse) to make good things happen.
Crayon Collection is an organization I am incredibly proud and honored to be involved with. Going into schools and seeing the children's excitement when given crayons and an art lesson is an amazing experience. Crayon Collection is making a difference in children's lives while also reducing waste. Crayon Collection's mission is inspiring!
The smell, the countless drawings, the built-in sharpener... simply put, crayons are childhood. Yet so many children don’t have access to crayons. The very same crayons restaraunts throw out after barely being used, the very same crayons many of us have an abundance of in our art drawers. Imagine being able to donate those crayons to children who don’t have any? Now you can, with The Crayon Collection (TCC) and it’s so easy.
TCC has a simple goal- donate your used crayons (schools, homes, restaraunts) to CC and they will refurbish them and get them to underserved schools along with art curriculum. Not to mention helping the environment.
It’s a privilege to be a board member and it’s a privilege to work with TCC’s founder, Sheila Morovati. She is changing the world, one Crayon at a time.
I have had the privilege of spending time with some of the children Crayon Collection has helped. Hearing their stories and understanding the difference this nonprofit has made in their lives is heartwarming. I am honored to be involved with an organization as impactful and meaningful as Crayon Collection.
Crayon collection is an amazing nonprofit. I have been working with the organization as an art director, donor, and art project mentor. With barely-used crayons collected through school groups and restaurants, underserved children in Title 1 schools across the country have been given art supplies and projects aligned with Common Core standards. Students are offered access to the world of color and art while simultaneously saving crayons from landfills . I have seen the effect of early exposure to art and the freedom to create, giving boundless opportunity to kids who otherwise would not have a voice. Crayon Collection depends on community volunteers to collect and deliver crayons to schools in need, and these connections create lifelong bonds as well as a cycle of sustainability.
I am myself an arts professional and professor in a related field. After watching Crayon Collection's programs take shape over the last couple years, I have gotten more seriously involved. That the hundreds of millions of paraffin wax crayons we can collect from restaurants (where they were used for a few minutes and discarded) never see the landfill is already something profound--especially given that they do not decompose. But I was also moved by the idea to re-purpose the crayons that would otherwise be trash. I am now working with artists, helping Crayon Collection to build out a curriculum for school teachers at Title 1 schools who otherwise do not have the resources or time to integrate art into their lessons. The students who receive the crayons get the gift of school supplies, as well as the invitation to be more creative and to process their experiences through art. I am proud to support the dual missions of this great organization.
I am so inspired by Crayon Collection and the work they are doing to both make the planet a better place by up-cycling discarded restaurant crayons, and then distributing them to children who do not have crayons. I am honored to be a part of the team working with the founder Sheila Morovati. Her passion and commitment to the organization is truly evident.
I love Crayon Collection for it's mission to save the crayons from the landfills. Crayons do not decompose and therefore they are detrimental to the earth. Their mission is simple in providing partnerships between restaurants or hotels with Title 1 schools that are nearby to receive crayons for the children. Title 1 schools are low income schools. Teachers usually have to fund out of their own pocket these art supplies. I have been to crayon sorting parties, kindness parties where kids are helping kids and I have had my 7-year-old daughter host a sorting party and a crayon collection at our home for Crayon Collection to have her friends participate in helping others in need. Crayon Collection is helping to bring up the next generation of environmentalists.
