Causes: Financial Counseling, Human Services
Mission: Ontrack wnc helps people achieve their money and housing goals through financial education, counseling and support so that they can overcome crises, afford basic needs, improve money management skills and make sound financial choices rooted in their values.
Programs: The education and integrated services programs include our community education courses designed to increase clients' knowledge, confidence and skills surrounding their finances. These courses include homebuyer education, bankruptcy education (now discontinued), money mastery courses and youth financial literacy. Also included in these programs are the homerun homeownership program, the women's financial empowerment center, the free tax preparation program and employer assisted housing programs.
housing counseling offers a full array of services to help clients obtain and maintain housing, whether they rent, own or are in the process of purchasing their first home. Services include rental counseling, pre-purchase counseling including loan document review, reverse mortgage counseling and foreclosure prevention counseling. Counselors are certified by the association of housing counselors and hud (if performing reverse mortgage counseling) and the agency is a certified hud housing counseling agency. We also manage the nc foreclosure prevention fund for the 18 western counties of north carolina, providing help for homeowners who are struggling to pay their mortgage due to job loss or other temporary financial hardship.
financial counseling helps people reach their financial goals starting wherever they are. We can help clients with budget counseling, credit report review, student loan counseling, debt management plans and bankruptcy counseling. Counselors are certified by the national foundation for credit counseling.
