Mission: We preserve and restore open space and natural lands, protect rivers and watersheds, and promote stewardship of our environment.
Programs: Preserved 167. 1 acres, including putting a conservation easement in place and then facilitating the donation of 38 acres of land for public use in wayne; adding a critical 37-acre property to an existing forest preserve along haines creek in dekalb county and adding another conservation easement in a neighborhood of conserved private properties in winfield. Finalized a new natural area assurance program site in a subdivision in naperville, with 91. 5 acres of open space in a 203-acre development being permanently protected through a conservation easement, and the conservation foundation will be the ecological manager of the open space, with funding provided by residents of the subdivision. More than 800 volunteers removed 8 tons of trash from streams for the dupage river sweep and adopt-a-stream. Certified 117 properties conservation @ home and conservation @ work, distributed 1,100 rain barrels to local communities, installed 5 new pollinator meadow mix native plant seed demonstration areas, and distributed thousands of native plants and oak trees to homeowners. Restored 100 acres of natural area at dayton bluffs. Implemented 8 conservation in your community initiatives in two counties. Held 6 educational workshops and seminars on various conservation topics, and made more than 60+ presentations to community groups. Served 1,000 in our environmental education program, held 2 teacher training workshops on environmental education.
