Mission: Researching, exploring, implementing and improving technology to allow muliple personal computers, in aggregate, to perform calculations and large computer tasks that could otherwise only be performed by multi-million dollar cluster and supercomputer installations. These aggregated volunteered resources are to be used for the public benefit.
Programs: Gridrepublic makes it easy for people to participate in and meaningfully support scientific and medical research. The vehicle is a novel form of philanthropy called "volunteer computing": from our website, pc users download a simple app which enables them to lend their spare processing power to cancer, study, climate modeling, astronomy and other issues while the devices are not otherwise in use. By aggregating idle resources from participants around the world, research projects get access to massive "virtual" supercomputers -- thus making possible investigations that would otherwise be impossible. In addition to continued modest growth through our primary web portal at www. Gridrepublic. Org, we also [1] have an ongoing campaign with intel promoting our services as a facebook application (co-branded as "progress thru processors"); and [2] provide the backend services that power charityengine. Com, a portal that uses our technology to generate revenues for charity.
